I had a difficult month or two where I wasn't able to do much work (finals, an incident in the lab, holidays, etc.) Now I'll be working on commissions and answering a backlog of personal messages as fast as possible.

First, an update: I'll be starting commissions as soon as I finish the 1st contest winner's award, I'm almost done with it but I want to get it finished before taking on more work.

Second, a Request:

I want to draw a longer comic, something like 15-20 pages. It would be transformation themed and contain sex, probably. I'd like to sell this comic on a website somewhere. If anyone has knowledge/experience of how to go about selling comics like this, I'd love to talk to you (reply to this or send me a note).

Specific questions:
- What are some good sites to look at for hosting/handling transactions? The Process? TGcomics? Are there others? What is involved in getting work on/involved in such a site?
- What sorts of stories sell? What should I avoid? What do people want from a comic like this? What would make it satisfying for people who bought it?
- Is there a good example of someone who has done this and been successful? (I don't really buy this sort of stuff so I'm kind of clueless)

Also, if you're a writer and want to work on this sort of project I might want to hear from you, especially if you have a script already written or have experience doing this sort of thing.

It has been a week and I've read all of the stories I was sent, if you were one of the late people then I apologize but I think it's time to end this. There will be a new contest starting after school begins in a few weeks, probably Halloween themed (United States style Halloween, which I adore).

When I started this contest I had just begun taking commissions and I was worried that I wouldn't have enough work to keep me busy. That kind of myopic foresight is truly mind boggling. I also only had about a hundred watchers, now I have almost 700, I can't help but wonder how many of those people might have entered the contest if they'd known about it.

Before I announce the winners I wanted to say a few words about the contest and the selection process. I read and enjoyed all of the stories. Picking a winner was incredibly difficult. Ultimately I chose the winners for their potential to produce an interesting series of illustrations and for a bunch of vague, difficult-to-define-reasons that were based on feelings I had while reading them. I briefly considered illustrating all of them, thinking that perhaps that would be easier than choosing winners. That would have been crazy though. So here's the winners:

1st Place: amahain
Legacy of the Shadow Dragons

This story has a lot of different settings, characters, and events which made me think it would be a lot of fun to illustrate. It's also well written and sexy. I'll admit that the lesbian and dragon themes aren't my cup of tea but I think they're both very popular in this genre so the project ought to appeal to a lot of people. This story also has no other illustrations to go with it, that I know of, and it follows the rules/spirit of the contest perfectly.

2nd Place: dantwz
Raven's Call

I was really hoping to get a less erotic story, Raven's Call is definitely more dramatic than sexy. The story is also excellent from a technical perspective. It manages to blend loner angst and transformation themes in a fun way that I think a lot of people will connect with. I also thought it'd be perfect for black and white illustrations which is admittedly a big part of why it took 2nd place.

Raveled Chapter One

Brilliant idea. I wanted to draw a single image or maybe like an instruction manual to go with this but I didn't think it was a good candidate for a full set of illustrations so I hope dkfenger will be interested in something like that.

Some people sent multiple stories, I will read everything I was sent. i wish I could give an exact time for when judging will end but I don't have enough information to do so. It will probably take 8-9 days, barring some kind of unforeseen problem.

There will be at least one winner. There may be additional winners if I can't decide between stories or if I really like one. That's something I've tried to account for and I might offer some other prizes.

I want to illustrate your story.

English is not my first language and I'm utterly hopeless at communicating with the written word so I want to draw pretty pictures to go with someone else's words. ^_~

YOU DON'T HAVE TO WRITE SOMETHING NEW! YOU CAN SEND ME AN OLD STORY!

The illustrations will include:
- Backgrounds
- Colour
- Characters in situations, transforming into things.

The stories should be:
- 5-25 pages.
- As adult as you want
- Feature a "slow" transformation, it should take place over days or weeks
- Anyone turning into anything is fine, but I'll give extra points for uniqueness of premise

Stories should not include:
- Children
- Bestiality
- Scat

Send me a note with "contest" in the subject heading and a link to your story on FA and I'll judge it based on uniqueness of the premise and quality of the writing.

The winner will be illustrated and a PDF will be compiled with the writing and the drawings.

Contest will be open until July 30th.
