~Leaving FA-~
Posted 10 years agoIt was a good run, but I'll be leaving FA for other sites. I'm not going to do a gallery purge and I might also still browse around faving things here/there,. You may find me on DA and Weasyl. Before I go, felt it would be nice to offer commissions to anyone who wanted them here. Look at my price sheet, see if anything interests you, and send me a note.
Commissions will stay open until I wake up Monday June 29th. After that, I'll remain closed until all folks work is finished. Which is now passed, so no more commissions til the current queue is done. Then it'll be put up on other sites.
If there are any questions about either me leaving or the commissions, feel free to ask in the comments.

The many sites to find me and my arts~
Posted 10 years agoArt Sites
Furaffinity is where I'll post my digital works. The more fully developed ones.
Weasyl contains what I'd put in Scraps if it were FA. I'd post Daily Foxes, Quick digital drawings, and comics. This site also says when I'm streaming.
Deviantart will have traditional arts. Since learning it in school, I've been making watercolor, acrylic and ceramics pieces.
Photobucket is my image hosting site. It has a habit of trying to sell canvas prints of anything and everything.
Other Places
Twitter just use this to talk to folks sometimes, I use this to show WIP's.
Furstream is where I do art streams. Not too exciting unless I'm streaming.
Colors is I used to post the 3ds drawings I make when I should be sleeping.
---
I have trouble juggling different art sites. There's a lot of galleries online that are useful for posting stuff on, but it's too much work to post everything on all of them. By giving each site a certain purpose that would make me use them all more.
My worry is that this will only make it tedious for the viewers to look at my art, but I figure if I link all the sites together, then people won't have as much of a reason to complain. Thoughts?

---Personal art development: Where from here?---
Posted 10 years agoHey folks,
I've been thinking about my art and where to take it. My main goal is to be an illustrator of some kind. I have skills in composition, rendering, and technique. But there's one thing has been bothering me.
Looking over the last year's work(and artwork as a whole), it seems that things aren't especially different. My method of drawing characters now is the same back as it was back then, and my drawing of scenes is similar. The technique is more refined, but work from a year ago still look good compared to the work of today. Which could be a good thing about my method, or it's just me being proud of my work.
My workflow produces good art, but there are spots that could use work.
1. Concepts-I can render a person's character in fancy armor but making armor is trouble. Making a non-standard anthro is also troubling. Space ships are baaaad.
2. Form and space, perspective-Being able to make a figure look 3 dimension in a 2d space. Then having it make sense is trouble. With liking to draw pudgy foxes, I want to be good at this, or else they don't look rounded or in the scene.
3. Speed- I am slow to upload works, commissions are dragged for months or so, and not enough folks can get art from me.
4. Personallity-Not art related, but being accessible and talking to the community is important.
I have plans on how to fix these problems, but I'm likely blinded to other issues. I'm curious what you folks think. What should I work on to get better?

About comments, commissions, and arts
Posted 11 years agoHeya's, so just thought I'd put a new journal up to have an update as well as update people on a few things. Comments, I really like them! Alot more than fav's honestly. Unfortunantly, I'm pretty bad at replying to them on a regular basis, so I'd like to apologize to those who comment. Will try and be better about responding!
Anycase, I was going to open commissions, but I promised people on IM that I'd give them slots. It's not really fair to the people watching, but I can't really go back on my word now. Either way, I was wondering what a good way to go 'fixing' this problem might be.
Aside from that, curious what people've been thinking of my art as of late. Personally I think I'm getting alittle better at making interesting compositions in my drawings. Though, there's a very intense lacking in making things clearly visible. For example, the last painty pictures I did, you look close and they're not detailed, they're just shaded in a way that looks neat. Enough personal musing though, what do you thinks working and what's not?
–Commissions(still closed)--
Drawings:
1. Mr_JD9000 (paid)
2. GDZeek-Group
3. Virmir-Comic
–Not-Commisisons--
Otherworks:
1. Vilkune Drawing

Status Update(Commissions Closed, Dailyfox, and Comics)
Posted 11 years agoFirst off, commissions are closed for a while until I get a couple trades done as well as some commissions that I've been putting off for a while. Also homeworks, homeworks every day. Nyah~
Second, I've gone through and made around 150 dailyfoxes, almost half a years worth of foxes! I'm quite surprised that I've been able to keep drawing different ideas up for each day, but I don't think I'll be stopping anytime soon. Fat foxes are fun to draw, and it's also good practice to keep drawing each day. So if you're interested in seeing how the drawings have developed over the months, go take a look.
Lastly, I'm starting a comic. So far I've only gotten to 3 pages so far, but it involves space foxes, future technologies, and other stuffs. Not too much to say other than, the plan is to update it every sunday/monday. I'll probably post a new journal explaining it all another day. Right now, I'm just uploading it to photobucket, so take a look if you have time.
Feel free to ask any questions I suppose~
Trades:
-Shinden
-Kyte
Other:
-Rocket Silray
-KamikazeJoe Drawing

Anthrocon Report
Posted 12 years agoI had a great time before, and during Anthrocon. Staying over in Indiana for a while and then going to Pennsylvania for the con I met a lot of good furries during the course of the trip.
One of the best things about the trip was all the food. So much food! I got taken to tons of different restaraunts and was able to eat tons of different meals. Favorite probably being the Steak house. Also, lots of friends gave me food randomly. Combine with the fact there was Belgian chocolate to nom, I felt full the entire trip!
At the con, the zoo was the best. I don't think I've ever drawn as much in a single sitting as I did at those tables. Lots of great people, and lots of good trades!
The dealers den and artists alley was a great experience. I only got a few commissions, but there were so many good artists there that I found and now got to watch. I was surprised how much good art there is at this con.
I'm very happy that I was able to go to Anthrocon. I probably won't be going next year, I'll be trying to save for a suit, but this was definitely an experience to remember. Next furry con will probably be MidwestFurfest.
And onto shoutouts:
Acru- Thanks for allowing me to tag along. You did a great job at planning stuff to do. I wish the best of luck at Megaplex
Blackavar- What a friendly lion you are! You need more scritches.
Bendor- You're a pretty fun guy. Really glad to meet you

Midwest Furfest: See you there
Posted 13 years agoSchool's been killing me with various projects that I should be doing now and I should be finishing up a certain person's commission but I'm just so darn happy that I'm going to be able to go to my first con(well, I did go to an Anime con, but that's completely different)
After school goes out for thanksgiving break, I'll be going home for friday night, and then heading straight to the con saturday morning. The plan is to con all day, stay the night saturday, and stick around abit sunday morning before heading back home to Iowa.
Main reason for me to travel is because I'm really excited to get to see
jacfox
2chaotic
shindenwolf and
acrufox. So much to say, so much to do! Only 1 day to achieve it all(sorta). This should be fun~
What about you watchers? Who else is going to Midwest Fur Fest? I was thinking, I should give a drawing to everyone who go out to meet me, Seeing as I'm kind of shy it might help me meet more people during the con. (plan'll probably backfire when hundreds of people ask, but it's all good)
I'll probably be with my friends listed above so you see them, you'll probably find me. Just ask me and I'll work on it during break. See ya then!

Commission Tidbits
Posted 13 years agoCommission Tidbits
1. Commission
2. Pricing
3. Morals and ethics
4. Jobs list
1)Commissions
I just want to be an animator but I don't know how to work flash. I just spend most my time on a DS drawing at a pixel level. I made a few Icons for a friend, and people liked them. So at some point I thought it'd be nice to start commissioning.
You can ask about other kinds of works but icons and animations are my main jig. The usual size dimensions I work with are 100x100 or 50x50 but I can work with other sizes, a DS screen is 192 by 256 and computers have Flash.
If someone were to decide they'd want me to make an animation for them, they'd best have an idea of what they want. My first 3 commissions were dragons eating foods, and there was a lot of variance in length/subject. They also took a month or so before I settled on an idea mysel2 then 2 months more actually animating it. Just have an idea of what you want okay?
2) Pricing:
The rate is about 800pxl/$1 for still images. Animations double the price of the still icon's dimension but past that there's nothing extra. This'll probably change in the future depending on how it goes.
What if people want a recolor of my previous work? The price is half that of the original piece plus the number of details they want added. How much each extra detail costs depends on how animated it is. Generally, the price would be $0.50-1.00 for a detail that only needs to be drawn once as opposed to $3-5 for a detail that would require significant work. The range accounts for the size of the detail, it's a lot easier to give give a dragon hair than to change it into a dragon bear...sometimes.
In a more list format:
100x100: $12.50
50x50: $3.25
XxY: $(X*Y/800)
*Animations doubles the price
**Recolors are half the price of the original
3)Morals and Ethics
When I'm finished with a commission if the commissioner says no recolors I won't do them. If people want to recolor my work, I encourage them to try. Seeing how most of the time when people do try to recolor my work, it's pretty hilarious. Whatever, it's also free, so why not?
I don't draw things that are neither cute nor cool, or so they say. This will probably get filled more as time goes on but whatever, I'll say if somethings gross or not.
4)Jobs list
Since I finished with RaveRaptor's work, I have nothing except 1 recolor. So feel ask if you want one.

Finally Back
Posted 14 years agoHey it's me again, so I had a summer of fun. Now I'm back and better than ever, not to mention bigger. Oh and I got a computer! Bet you didn't know I didn't have one before. If you did, now I'm scared.
To quick go through the list of things I wrote down 3 months ago, I almost won locals in Marvel, the Highschool crowd dissappeared after my first meeting so no movie, I couldn't find a book on Diffique, Ulverman cycles was too hard to keep up with, I didn't like Zune HD's so just gonna buy a 3ds once they price drop and/or Starfox is released, I animated something :D, hopefully I learned to study, and I listened to that one song every friday.
But this journal isn't just for reading ramble gamble, though I'm sure you're glad to hear from me. I got something that could actually be important. Over the summer, I was really wanting ideas to draw so I got to thinking, "Hm, I'd better fix that". So this year, I plan on filling out commissions~yay.
I do digital works mostly because I don't have a scanner. That leaves pixelations, drawings, vectors, and stuff of the like. I'll talk about prices person to person but yeah, just (give/drop/slip/pass) me a note and I'll respond as soon as I finish breakfast the next morning.
As far as uploads, I'm collecting all my stuff to post.

Summer time is soon to be here
Posted 14 years agoHey friends, got something important to tell you.
Summer break is soon to start, I'm going to be heading back home and you know what that means? Yup, I'll have a ton more time to draw, read books and solving math equations! Though with these benefits come trade offs, it also means that I won't have any internet access for a long extended period of time. Pretty big deal, I know!
So in a sense I'd like to say that you all are awesome. I met so many friends here and you'll all defiantly be missed. I won't be able to do much here until I get back to school or get a new computer, I'm hoping the latter but once I do I'll be able to do much more artsy crafts, I already plan on getting some neat animation programs and also Opencanvas so I can draw with people over the web.
So many things for me to do now, I'm not out of the university yet! One more test and I will be out of here.
My To-do list for the summer:
-Win dat Mahvel Monthly
-Make a movie with the high school crowd
-Get a head start on Differential equations
-Sleep on the Ulverman Cycle again
-Obtain money for a ZuneHD and listen to tunes
-Animate something
-Learn to study school stuff
-Gotta get down to the bus stop, gotta catch my bus
Once again, I'd like to say thank you so much for your kindness and see you in a few months.
