Is there any interest in Pokemon here?
Posted 10 years agoTL;DR- Gauging interest in pokemon sprites. Want one? Let me know.
Before you read the title of this journal and go "Duh you're an idiot Fuzz, of course there is.", read the rest of the journal.
I'm about to finish off my last commission here and do a re-stock of my beads, which means I will essentially be open for whatever. The problem is that when I have no paid work to do, I can't just sort of sit there doing random sprites. I don't have the luxury of a digital medium to work with- any sprite I produce costs materials, time, and labor, and usually winds up sitting on my wall ultimately doing nothing.
I would like a long term project, which is where the title comes into play. A few years back I decided that I wanted to do all of the 1st gen Pokemon, 1-151. This never really took off because I suck. However, I've been needing a long term project for both the sake of my beadwork and my own personal sanity (depression is a bitch). I've settled on this sprite sheet, which I believe are from the FireRed version of the game. I would be doing the smaller sprites- most of them seem to hover around 200-300 beads, and almost all of them are between 3" and 5" square.
Essentially I am just trying to gauge interest. I don't expect to sell all 151 (though that would be amazing), but I would love to know if one or two folks out there would want something. It would be a nice start to things. If you have interest in any pokemon outside of the original 151, I have some alternate sprite sheets as well. They can be found here.
As always, if you're interested, leave a message or note me. Thanks for taking the time to read. <3

I would like some feedback on a potential pricing change!
Posted 10 years agoHi folks.
I'm fighting depression at the moment and am trying to keep my mind off the main causes of it by focusing on beadwork. I had an idea and wanted to run it by folks.
I am currently quite happy with my pricing structure when it comes to pricing the sprites themselves. I think the solution that we came up with provides a fair price point across the board, and certainly makes my life easier when pricing.
However, I haven't really addressed shipping. For a while now I've charged a flat rate that I sort of adjust based on the order. However most of the time this means I'm picking a number out of the air and going with it. I always lowball it, since I constantly worry I'm gonna overcharge and piss off a customer. Most of the time this amounts to nothing more than a loss of a few dollars, but I have had a few cases where I lowballed large orders by $10+, which adds up rather quickly.
I have an idea to fix that and would like to see what you would think. Put yourselves in the shoes of a customer of mine.
Standard rates for the bead sprite itself apply, no big deal. I bill the customer that amount/they pay it like usual. When shipping comes along, I head to the post office and pay for shipping. I usually go with first class. I then bill the customer for the amount I paid to ship it, along with a nominal cost for materials (like a dollar or so, or less if it's just an envelope). I would take a picture of the receipt and note/e-mail/get it to them through whatever manner they choose as proof.
I feel like this would prevent any issues with over/undercharging and would ensure that we're both dealing with money in the most accurate way possible.
My only worry is that folks would just refuse to pay for shipping, since they technically aren't under obligation to do so once it's in the mail. Do you think this is a valid concern?
Please leave me any feedback or ways you think this could be improved.

TMI Monday- doesn't need to have the same first letter!
Posted 10 years agoI'm mostly doing this out of sheer boredom. I doubt this'll get much response, but hey, who knows? Spread the word.
Got a question you wanna know about Fuzz? About me? Ask. Nothing's off limits. Seriously.
Obviously I can't answer questions that would reveal too much about me personally, but lay 'em on me anyway. I can promise you as honest an answer as I can give.

New Jersey!
Posted 10 years agoWhoo!
I'm in Ocean City, NJ for the week on vacation. I can't do much beading while I am there, but hopefully I will return crispy and content. Just thought I'd let people know.
If you need to get in touch with me, the usual channels are still open- I just am not checking them as frequently due to lack of privacy.

Desktop issues
Posted 10 years agoHey folks,
Just a quick update- something is fucked up on my desktop at the moment. Whether hardware or software, I don't know. Either way I am currently without my main machine- this is also the one with all of my sprites, photoshop, etc.
Those of you waiting on commissions, I apologize. I know you've all been very, very patient with me. It's been a rough few weeks and I just have been unable to get to working on stuff. I'll be delayed a while longer until I can get this figured out.
Thanks again for your patience and understanding.

Should I keep doing WIP posts?
Posted 10 years agoHey folks,
Title of the journal basically says it all- should I continue to post WIP shots of sprites in my scraps? I've done it for a while now, but it's sort of a pain in the ass..and I'm just curious as to whether people actually care or bother checking them out.
If people don't really care, I may stop taking them- it cuts my digital work in half, since it's that many fewer pictures to edit, upload, and type out.
I originally posted them because they tended to show better examples of the color for some reason and always looked better than the ironed counterpart, since they weren't at all screwed up.
Any thoughts?

Fuzz, where did you go?
Posted 10 years agoHaha, the title implies people have been asking this question! They're not. But that's okay- that's not the point!
2015 has been a slow year for me, bead-wise. I just wanted to let folks know what's been up. Most importantly, I haven't disappeared and I'm not at all finished with beadwork! This is a hobby that I love and adore, and I do not plan on giving it up anytime soon. As long as funds hold out for me and I can keep getting commissions once in a while, I will continue to produce all kinds of stuff.
This year has just been rough for a number of reasons. First and foremost, I need a job. An actual job- I would love nothing more than to live off my beadwork, but I'm lucky to get some work every few months at this point. I'm one of those losers stuck at home with his parents at age 28, and their good graces and immense patience has allowed me to stay there. They are understandably wanting me out of the house. I want my ass out of there too. That pressure has sort of prevented me from getting into the mode to do beadwork.
Secondly, I've been plagued with all sorts of health issues this year. None of them have been really serious, but there's barely been a stretch of two weeks where I'm not feeling some sort of pain/illness/other thing that prevents me from focusing on other stuff. None of it is real life-threatening, it's just inconvenience.
Lastly, it's just a lack of commissions mostly. No, this journal is not meant to guilt you into commissioning me. I'm not pleading or asking for anything. It's more that over the years I've made sprites from almost every major NES/SNES-era game that I grew up playing and enjoyed. I have no real desire to produce them again because people don't want to see duplicates in my gallery. Unlike digital art, anything I create 'just because' winds up costing me money in the form of beads, ironing paper, etc. I just don't have the resources these days to make as many sprites as I used to. It sucks, but it's the truth.
Anyway, I just wanted to let you folks know that I'm not dead. If you're reading this, thank you for doing so. If you're a new watcher to me, please don't unwatch me if I seem idle for a month or two at a time- I PROMISE you there will be new content on my page. I really appreciate you folks that have stuck with me. It means a lot. <3

Species envy. Is it a thing?
Posted 10 years agoDo you ever regret being the species that you are?
I know this is such a furry-ass question, but I'm kind of curious.
I'm not personally thinking about changing species, but occasionally I think about it quite a bit. It seems like such an odd question, since ultimately I could just make a new character, a new fursona, and do what I want with it. Fuzz is sort of..hard coded into me though. He's been my fursona for at least a decade now, perhaps 12+ years. It's getting hard to remember. It's one of those things that I can't really change without feeling like something is very wrong. I think my closest friends would sort of freak out if I suddenly decided to stop being a wolf.
The whole reason I thought of the question was in part because I've noticed certain species tend to stick together. Birds like to flock, sharks seem to find one another. Otters like to clump up too. I'm a wolf. It should be natural that I have a pack or something, right? I don't have any super cool awesome wolfbros though. I guess a small part of me is jealous, in a sense. Then again, my personality isn't super conducive to that sort of thing. I tend to be rather terrible at initiating conversation and I've been told I can come off as terse or cold at times. Perhaps I need to look more at myself instead of trying to find external sources and causes to blame.
Another factor in this question being asked is simply that a wolf seems so..plain in the grand scheme of things. I could have been a dragon, or a snake, or a minotaur, or some other exotic creature. It's rather silly to dwell on it due to the points I made earlier, but sometimes I sit there and go "Why did I pick something so ordinary?". Mind you, this isn't a call for pity or fishing for compliments or anything. I am who I am. Whether Fuzz fit into me, or I fit into Fuzz (huehue), I'm not really sure..but I ultimately am a wolf and I'm stuck with the choice.
Sometimes though, I wish I was something different. Sometimes I see other folks with their fursonas and get jealous. It doesn't make a lot of sense, since I could just make some sort of 'dream' 'sona and parade it around as me..but it wouldn't feel right. Part of wonders if I don't have a pack because I'm not making the effort. Perhaps I'm just not the type to draw people in to that sort of relationship.
It's just something to think about, I suppose. Does anyone have any feedback or anything they'd like to add? Nobody hardly seems to read these things, anymore.

What's to come in 2015.
Posted 10 years agoHey folks!
Happy 2015! I hope everyone had a wonderful new year, a happy Christmas, and all that jazz. It's time to unwind a little bit, get over the holiday rushes, and hopefully usher in a great new year.
I wanted to clarify a few things, as I've been getting a nice amount of traffic, questions, and other associated things. Hopefully this will clear up any inconsistencies. Questions, feedback, and concern are -always- welcome- I will always do my best to help out someone if I can. Also, please spread the word! Word of mouth is always greatly appreciated.
Anywhere, here's some stuff to know!
1. Fursona Bead Sprites are always available. I've been seeing a little more interest in these lately and wanted to remind people that this is always an option. If you would like your character made into a sprite and then turned into beads, you can! Slug and I are happy to work together to bring you something unique. The sprites are NOT just limited to a small headshot, by the way! If you would like something larger made, or your fursona turned into a coaster, keychain, magnet, or even an ornament, that can all be arranged! Just ask and we'll work with you to get something made. You can check out [this post] for more information as well!
2. I do not make original or custom sprites myself. I've had a few people get in touch with me about having sprites made. While I greatly appreciate your interest in my work, my talents only spread into the realm of beading. I have no skill in making something original or modifying sprites to any extent. I can do color changes and whatnot, but please don't ask me to make an original sprite for you. I would be more than happy to direct you to someone who can, though! Just ask.
3. I am still running a sale! From now through January 20th, I am running a 20% off all regular priced sprites. What started as a Christmas sale turned into more of a holiday/winter setup. If you're unable to afford anything right now but can lock in a commission for the future (within a month or so), I would be more than happy to extend that discount to you. Just let me know!
That about sums up what I wanted to get across. Like I said, questions and feedback are always welcome. I'm hoping to produce some awesome bead sprites this year. Here's hoping to an awesome 2015!

Brand New Pricing Policy! Details Inside!
Posted 11 years agoHi folks!
I've been doing a lot of thinking lately about my pricing structure and the rates that I'm charging and everything. Currently I have a pricing system based on the size of the sprite, which is broken down into tiers. It's worked relatively well for the past few years, but I had a few problems with it. The main thing that has bothered me was that sprites on the low end of a size tier were charged the same price as sprites on the high end of the tier. This didn't seem fair to the customer, and wound up with me usually charging a lower price than what was stated.
Ultimately, I felt like a system needed to be put into place. After some discussion with a friend of mine, it was realized that it may just be easier to charge a per bead price. This not only alleviates the issue of price differences within a tier, but also simplifies pricing sprites.
Here is the new policy that will take effect immediately:
For normal sprites:
$0.015 per bead.
For large sprites (1000+ beads):
$0.015 per bead + $1.00 per 100 beads. Values in between (i.e. 1150 beads) will be rounded DOWN.
An example: An 1100 bead sprite would be $(1100 X .015) +1.00 for a total of $17.50.
Keychains:
Add $1.00
Magnets:
Add $1.00
Coasters:
$7.00 each, $24 for a 4 pack.
Shipping rates remain the same.
If you have any questions or feedback, please feel free to leave it!
I am hoping that ultimately this new policy will make it easier for me to offer reasonable rates for you guys as well as simplifying the whole process and making commissions that much less painful.
Thank you!
P.S.: Don't forget, I am running a Christmas sale! 20% off everything! Discount will be taken off the final price of the sprite. Shipping and extras not included!

I'm thankful for all of the support and kindness the community here has shown me. I never thought that when I started this simple hobby a few years ago it would grow into what it has for me. While it's not like I'm famous or raking in money or anything, I have met a lot of amazing people through this website, and have come away with some lifelong friends.
Thank you to every person who has commented, favorited, posted, and watched my work. Thank you for taking the time out of your day to have a gander at my humble creations here. It really does mean a lot to me.
I hope you all can enjoy the holiday today. Be with your families, enjoy a good football game, and eat a bunch of turkey. For those that can't be with their families, you're always welcome at my table.

Weasyl!
Posted 11 years agoI've been exceptionally bored/lonely the past few days so I decided to make myself an account on Weasyl.
I don't have any plans on migrating there permanently, but I figured it might get a bit more traffic my way and might get some folks interested in what I have to offer. Can't blame me, can ya?
Anyway, I can be found here if you'd like to follow me or what have you.
You're going to basically see the exact same stuff on there as you will here, so it's not mandatory. Just an option. Thanks!

Does anyone still read these? Have an update..
Posted 11 years agoI don't really know what to put here. I just haven't had a journal up since May.
To be blunt, I guess I'm a bit of a wreck. The financial crisis I wrote about in my last journal was avoided somewhat, though I still am pretty much broke with no real source of income. The lead on a job I've been looking for is quiet at the moment. I'm not sure if anything will come of it. I'm trying though.
At this point, I'm sort of unsure where to go. I need help. I don't know if that's on a deeper scale, but something has to change. I'm a wreck. I mean, I've been battling depression for years now but lately shit has just not been working out for me. I had some plans recently that would have done a LOT for my own self esteem and general well-being. I was essentially stabbed in the back and those plans were ruined. Meanwhile I'm consumed with jealousy over incidents with my other close friends. It's just sort of chipping away, y'know?
I don't really know why I'm venting. I shouldn't be, not here. This is an art site. I apologize. I don't really have much else to say beyond that. I have a few bead pieces I need to finish, but I have to order some beads to finish them. That requires money, which I don't have. Luckily the order is for someone close, so they're willing to wait.
So..what the hell should I do? I can't afford to see anyone, and my parents only see me as an unemployed bum. I guess this is some attempt to call for help? I'm not..suicidal or anything foolish like that. I'm just very broken at the moment. Sorta empty and shell-like. I'm not sure who I can talk to at this point, because I just feel like a nuisance and a bother to all of the folks that have offered an ear. I have a lot of amazing friends out there, but it's strange how you can still feel suffocatingly alone in a sea of those looking out for you.
Such is life, I suppose. Back to the grind.
I hope you're all doing better than I am. Nobody deserves this.

Financial Stress/ Life Update! (Please have a read!)
Posted 11 years agoHey folks.
Sorry I disappeared for a while there. I actually found myself getting sucked into Final Fantasy 14. It's been a while since I got to play an MMO with my guild. They bought it for me (and some gametime), and I've been occupying myself with them. It's kinda nice!
Beadwork has been rather quiet lately. I picked up a rather massive commission recently that I'm not entirely sure I can talk about- but if so, it would be cool to show it off to everybody. Otherwise I just haven't had anyone approaching me about work. Beads are a little scarce for me, so I can't really make stuff of my own volition right now. I still have a bunch of sprites that I'm trying to get rid of, by the way. If you're interested, lob a note my way.
The main reason I'm posting this journal though is to be a terrible begging typical furry. I've been out of work for about 2 years now and my savings have run dry. I'm paying off loans and my cell phone and simply don't have the cash to pay this month..or any other month for that matter.
I guess what I'm asking is if any of you folks could spread the word, maybe grab a commission or two for me if possible? I hate begging or asking for handouts, so I do sincerely apologize for doing so. I'm not looking for straight up donations- at least let me make something. If you can throw a few dollars my way, I can pay you back, but not for a little while. I do have money coming in, but I won't have it in time to pay bills for the month. I can repay whatever I'm given to an extent if you wanted to loan a wolf something.
In slightly happier news, I do have a potential job lead. I can't really say much at the moment, but it would be a perfect fit for me and I'm really, really banking on it working out. Here's hoping!
But yeah- any of you reading this, thank you for doing so! If you're willing and able, please spread the word. I'm sorry for begging, but short of finding a job in the next week or so I'm gonna be up shit creek. My paypal is BoxMacLeod[at]gmail.com and I can be contacted via Skype, Steam, IM, or e-mail if needed.
Thanks guys!

General Life Update!
Posted 11 years agoHey folks!
Figured I needed to push the whole sale extension thing off my front page, so I'll give you a thrilling update about my life.
Things have honestly been pretty quiet. I am desperately looking for work, and not really finding much. I think every application I've sent in has gotten no response. It's kinda annoying. Anyone looking for a wolf that's real good with data entry, or someone that's capable of some semi-basic tooling/machining work? I can do it for cheap. Commissions are always good, too. :D
I've also been battling some pretty severe depression bordering on suicidal thoughts. Not exactly the most pleasant thing to read, but it's the truth. I'm pretty constantly fighting massive waves of anxiety and depression from almost every aspect of my life. That being said, I'm not here to stir drama or worry anybody. I'm fine at the moment and am simply trying to find ways to turn things around. I'm not quite sure what those things will be, but shit's gotta look up, y'know?
My holidays went well. I got to see the whole family and things went by without incident. I became an uncle for the third time. The new baby is adorable and he's doing quite well. My brother is handling being a dad quite well, and things have been pretty hectic for him. He's a great guy though and I want nothing more than for him to be the great father I know he's capable of being.
Beadwork has been sort of slow lately. I am really enjoying these Mega Man sprites and have two more to finish. Things have been delayed a little as I found myself completely absorbed by that game called Rust. It's a fun survival/building sorta thing and I've been enjoying dicking around with some friends on there. If anyone wants to play with me, let me know, I'll give you the server info.
Anyway, how have you all been? My last few journals have been pretty silent. I have no idea if anyone even reads these anymore. If not, ah well. If so, thanks for taking the time to do so. Hopefully your holidays went well and you're dealing with all this wacky winter weather better than we all are. Being cold sucks. Sometimes I really do wish I was a wolf 'cause I could snuggle up with my damn winter coat and a huge fluffy tail. Ah well.
Here's to surviving 2014!

Sale extension!
Posted 11 years agoI'm absolutely horribly ill right now so I will keep this brief.
Christmas sale is over, but due to the FA downtime in December, ad time was extended and folks may have gotten screwed out of their chance to get sale prices with me.
I'm gonna extend the 20% off discount 'til the 21st to make it up to ya.
Basically anything you commission will get 20% off. Shipping rates and all that jazz are still normal.
Here's to a happy 2014 y'all. <3

I need some halp.
Posted 12 years agoHey folks.
Just a quick update here- not much to report. I've been kinda in a slump for a while. Depression, health issues, etc. etc. Nobody wants to hear about that, so we're not gonna talk about that.
I've been doin' some beadwork lately and that last Mega Man sprite was pretty awesome for me. I tried out a new technique that I liked and it's inspired me to try out other larger sprites. I really enjoyed the style of that sprite though- it was colorful, simple shading, and looked awesome. So I wanted to ask you folks out there- do you have a Mega Man sprite you want to see made? I would love to try out similar sized boss sprites, especially if they're all that awesome. I don't have too much knowledge of the series, but I know there are a lot of fans out there. Let me know!
Otherwise..not much going on. Looking for work, trying to get my life in order, blah blah. If you wanna know more, note me I guess. Not here to bitch though. Hope you all have a fantastic evening and hope you all had a great October.

Some friendly reminders!
Posted 12 years agoHey folks!
For those of you who saw my ad and decided to watch me, thank you very much, and welcome to my gallery! Hope you enjoy all the stuff I've made over the years. If you ever have requests on something you want to see, just ask!
I just wanted to post a few friendly reminders to people, as I've gotten a buncha messages the past few days (which mean a lot, by the way!).
1. Your fursona CAN be made out of beads if you want it! I have had a few people ask me about this now. Yes, it can be done! I am working with the lovely
to have this done. There is a link on my front page (look for the red font!) that explains more info about it. If you're too lazy to check it out, basically we'll make you a custom sprite of your fursona, and I will bead it and mail it to ya for $25. Get in touch with her or me if you want to work things out!
2. Please NOTE me if you would like a commission! I read every comment that gets posted on every piece and usually try to reply to them as well. If you express interest in purchasing my work, that's fantastic! However, please send me a note with your interest. It makes it MUCH easier for me to keep track of commissions and I would absolutely hate to ignore/forget a potential customer because I got lost in the shuffle. Thanks!
3. I have a number of journals and links posted related to pixel sizes, costs, etc. I know for a lot of folks this whole medium of art isn't exactly typical. I have had a few folks approach me wanting a particular piece, with the reference being an image I really can't work with. I have tried to help this out by posting a number of journals related to bead sizing and price breakdown. You can also check out my commission information page or tab for even more detailed information! It streamlines the process for all of us and makes things less of a headache for both sides. Please take a little time to check them out. If you're still unclear on anything, I am happy to work with you to get what we both want.
4. Please be patient with me in regards to shipping. You folks have all been awesome with me in regards to patience on orders, so this isn't directed at anyone or any incident in particular. I just want to remind people that I live in a very rural area and it takes me quite a while to get orders shipped out. If you have a specific deadline you need a sprite by, I will do my best to get it mailed out by then, but I cannot promise anything! Your satisfaction is my utmost concern and I will do my best to see that you get it!
5. After you receive your sprite(s) in the mail, please send me a note! This is more of a courtesy than a requirement. The main reasons I ask this are simple. I want to make sure your sprites arrived safely, and that you are satisfied with them. I also do so to remove your name from the commission list, so it clears it up. If your sprites don't arrive in a timely fashion or they were damaged in the mail, we can work something out. If I don't hear from you within two weeks of mailing out a sprite, I will assume they arrived and you're happy with them!
That's about all, really. Just wanted to throw that out there. I hope everyone's having a great day and once again thank you for checking out my page!

Somewhat back up to speed!
Posted 12 years agoHey folks.
I'd say my desktop is probably at 60% right now. I got a new hard drive and got Windows reinstalled and everything. I was out at a friend's house for a while downloading files and updating my laptop, and am now transferring those files onto this machine.
I managed to save most everything. I got my copy of photoshop as well as the sprites I had saved as well. Commissions will start up in a few days. Sorry for the delays, everyone!
Don't forget- I'm running a 15% off sale 'til the end of the month if you want something!

Hard drive failure.
Posted 12 years agoMy main hard drive has shit the bed without warning. I have some things backed up, but I've lost pretty much everything.
Any commissions and whatnot are going to be delayed until I can get my sprites/programs back in some sort of working order. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Summer Sale! Discounted sprites for the next few weeks!
Posted 12 years agoHi folks!
Summer is upon us in full force. How that relates to bead sprites, I don't know. They're not exactly cooling or refreshing..but they're damn cool to look at. Maybe you're out and about and you need something badass to hang off your backpack or keys or something..or maybe you're hosting a party and need something eye-catching to hang on your wall. Anyway, what I'm trying to get at is..sale!
Since a lot of folks have been drawn here recently, it seems appropriate to celebrate a little, no?
Shipping and additions like magnets and foam backing are not included. (fixed cost on those materials, boo. D:)
If you're interested in getting something, fantastic! No need to do anything on your part. However, mention this journal entry and I'll even give you a bonus 5% off. Oh snap. I'm not even gonna bold it so it's marginally less hidden. Don't skim!
So yes..to everyone that's decided to hop aboard the Fuzztrain..welcome to my beadwork and I hope you enjoy what I do! I'd be more than thrilled to create something awesome for you. Also..totally tell your friends about this. Pimpage is always awesome. One last note- if we're currently talking about a commission (I know I'm trading notes with a few folks), I WILL include this discount so you don't feel left out! :D
