Commission update, your opinions wanted!
General | Posted 3 years agoSo, yes, as you can see from the title, Bees has had a minute to recover from burnout, and I'm now considering reopening commissions in a VERY LIMITED way. I'm still working a full-time job, but I have some options that might work to give y'all your fix. I'd like your opinions, specifically on if the pricing I have listed for each item is something you're willing to pay or not, and if any of the commissions offered would be something you'd actually buy.
Option 1: Flash commissions. These would be much looser than what I normally post here, likely flat sketches or some limited color/shading. Rather than dictating a precise image, you'd be purchasing 1-2 hours of my time (at likely $20-$30 an hour) in which I would bang out something based on your prompt. The real catch here is there would be a zero refund policy, and you wouldn't have the control of a regular commission: you get what you get.
Option 2: Auctions. I would post a single commission slot and a starting bid (likely around $150-$200), and accept the final bid 48 hours after it's placed with no further bids. From here it would essentially be my old commission process - gathering visual references, making sketches until you're happy, and finishing with any edits requested by the buyer. I would reserve the right to veto especially complex ideas (No 10+ character scene, for example) or lock things like detailed backgrounds, extra characters, etc... to beyond a certain price point. Once again, no refunds, but you'd have much more control over this commission.
I can't guarantee either of these will happen, life is crazy and I'm only in the brainstorming stage right now, but any and all feedback is appreciated.

Simply put, I'm not making enough to justify the stress of freelancing, and unfortunately that means I'm not going to be doing commissions for the foreseeable future. I'll likely still be posting intermittently, but it'll be passion project work only. I'm sorry to everyone who was hoping to commission me in the future, I've truly enjoyed working with y'all, and if it wasn't for outside influences I'd be happy to keep doing so.

I'm only opening a limited number of slots between both bases, though I haven't decided yet how many. One base (A) will be coil centric, featuring my OC in a naga form, and more or less SFW. Thanks to some kinda crazy scheduling things coming up, I won't have much time to take my usual style of commissions. On that note, how would everyone feel about a set of YCH commissions? That way you all still get something and I have time to recuperate some energy before April. My idea right now is something tentacle or coil-y (of course) but I had also considered putting an OC of mine front and center (the shapeshifting tentacle/coil demon I've posted a couple images of). Is this something anyone would be interested in, or should I stick with a more established character (or no character at all, like what I did last time?)
Please let me know your thoughts, and if you have alternative suggestions feel free to leave those below as well!

worthwhile without burning me out. The thing is, I worried that something as simple as early access to work I'm posting anyway isn't enough, but I'm stumped on what else I could offer.
This is where you come in! If you've been a patron of other artists in the past (or any creator, really), what were the best rewards offered and what level were they at? And if you haven't been a patron before, what rewards would make you join? I'm essentially outsourcing my brainstorming here, but I'm also testing the waters and interest levels. If you love the idea of getting more exclusive treats from me, let me know! And if you're vehemently opposed, also let me know!

There are a grand total of 5 slots open for any type of commission, first come first serve as usual. - If I have to do revisions after the piece is complete, there will be an additional fee based on the revisions due. If revisions are needed you must pay up front.

- The final image will have an inconspicuous signature somewhere on the piece. This cannot be omitted, but if you do not want "IFuckingLoveBees" on your commission you can request "AVeryLostBumbleBee" instead.

October update and 'commission' status

BUT! I have a potential way for all you lovely watchers to maybe get a dose of tentacle art without me utterly draining myself in the process.
I am trying out a 'Your Character Here' thing, which you can find featured in the gallery. Now, I've never done this before, so patience is appreciated if I happen to stumble or do something incorrectly. At the moment, I will be opening FOUR slots, first come first serve, for anyone who wants one. This is not an auction, the price is fixed at $80.00 USD per slot. If there is significant interest, I may open it again in the future, or make another YCH, but for now four individual slots is all I can handle. The rules are posted below, as well as in the description of the post itself.

Commissions update
General | Posted 5 years agoSome of you might have noticed that I posted some recent commissions, but were wondering when they opened, since I have had the page closed since mid-Autumn. The commissions were filled by the people on my commission waitlist, which is why they were able to get a commission without them being publicly open. Sadly, my workload means I will likely not be able to take commissions again until June or July, but by then I should be done with college. Thanks for hanging in there everyone!

Unfortunately, this means I won't be taking any more commissions until December. Yes, December. Thanks to a combination of college and personal reasons, I'm taking October and November to focus on personal work. Posting here will be less frequent, though it might still happen.
I'll update when commissions are getting ready to open again. In the meantime, stay safe, wear a mask, don't cough on people.
