On signatures and characters:
General | Posted 15 years agoA few people have asked why I don't put signatures or watermarks on the vast majority of my pictures. It's simply a personal choice that I've made for two reasons.
First, as soon as I create something, I feel that it takes on a life of its own, in a sense. The value of a drawing isn't in the pixels that compose it, or the work that went into it; its value is in the emotions it arouses in its viewers. If you like my drawings, you can feel free to save them for personal use, modify them, share them on other sites, etc. I would appreciate attribution, but its absence doesn't bother me. I'd only get upset if you said that you made it yourself.
Second, I consider most of my drawings quite crude, and I'm rather ashamed of putting my name to them. If you don't agree, that's perfectly alright, but I don't think that adding my signature to the picture would improve it at all.
These go for any of "my" characters, as well. I don't care if you take a Mudkip, say it's me, and put it in some intensely humiliating artwork. Heck, I'd be flattered. You don't need to ask me for permission to draw me or include me in a story. It's your right as the artist to choose your content, whether in parody or earnest, and portray it however you choose.
That said, these are just personal standards, and I don't hold others to them. I don't mind at all if you put signatures on everything you draw. I won't look down on you if you demand permission for anyone else to use your characters. I realize these may be a bit abstract, but hopefully I can come across semi-clearly!
If you'd like to discuss/debate any of this, feel free! I'm always open to learning new things.

The year's been going smoothly so far, though it's rough not having any friends who live nearby. I'm sure many of you can commiserate.
February is nearly here, and my birthday along with it! I'll have to buy myself something nice, or maybe just set the money aside for my next computer build 5 months hence.

General | Posted 15 years ago20 submissions up, more than 200 favorites, and we're two-thirds of the way to 1000 pageviews. Interestingly enough, we're also halfway through my back catalog of pictures to submit. I wager I'll be uploading some other ones as scraps as well when these are done, but after that, who knows? I certainly don't have the free time, attention span, or stamina to draw something every day, but hopefully I'll have enough people watching that I can slow down my release schedule a bit.
But hey, that's like 3 weeks hence! I hope you guys appreciate what I've uploaded so far, and are excited for what's to come! That pangolin/fish pic I drew was the most detailed I've ever done, and it bight be a high water mark in my art "career," but that doesn't mean you won't find a picture you like much better.
What else to say? I know it's early, but I'm working up a party for this October for FurFright. Those of you who are coming, I hope I can make things awesome for you! I've been told we're good hosts, but for all I know, you could be just saying that to make me happy. I guess we'll find out :)

General | Posted 15 years agoNo, it's not me. My birthday's not until next month. Today, the 18th, is Totodile's birthday. She doesn't have an FA account, so you can feel free to wish her a happy two-seven here, and I'll pass it on to her.

340 pageviews, 52 comments, 80 faves, and 54 people watching me.
Frankly, that's pretty impressive! I haven't even uploaded my greatest (most famous) pictures yet. I'll tell you what, though! If I hit 1000 pageviews, I'll put up AGNPH42. It's a huge drawing that's sure to knock your socks off, as well as your underwear, provided you're male.
