Gideon busted his arm, lend a hand
Posted 2 years agoLend a hand! Because he's down one.
Gideon took a spill on pavement and broke his left arm. It required surgery and a plate/screws to hold everything together. Between the cost of the surgery, and the upcoming cost of physical therapy to get his arm working properly again, he's fully tapped out financially.
A GoFundMe has been started here:
https://www.gofundme.com/f/gravity-is-a-helluvva-boss-battle
If possible, please contribute to his surgery/recovery cost. Just passing the word around can help as well. Thanks!

Help a bluecat!
Posted 8 years agoI'm pretty much stealing this from Durrn, reposting for exposure! TommiCat is a really nice guy who got hit with some bad luck. And in this car-centric country losing your only source of transportation can really screw everything up. I know the fandom will do what it always does -- rally around and turn a bad situation into a good one. :)
(From Durrn's journal):
See here for the GoFundMe info:
https://www.gofundme.com/island-kit.....s-stolen-moped
TommiCat is a very long time friend of mine and many others in the fandom. He had a rotten run of luck after the New Year in which his moped/scooter (which is his only form of transport) was stolen from his own garage where it'd been locked up.
The kicker to it all? He only had two more months of payments to make on it. Please help the poor guy out any way you can, even if it's only passing the word along to your family and friends to raise awareness.
Thank you for looking in and doing what you can in advance. We're all in this together don't forget, we gotta look out for and help each other whenever we can. }nwn{

The Birthday Tradition Continues
Posted 8 years agoMy birthday is here again. At this point I feel pressured by myself to only post once a year. :)
Anyways, as is usual, my birthday wish: y'all get bigger. Biggerrrrr.
I have simple needs.

IT IS TRADITION NOW
Posted 9 years agoTime for the yearly birthday post! Another orbit of the sun, another journal on FA.
I'm still waiting for everyone to get bigger. No slacking! You there! Double growth for you!

It's been 365 days since my last birthday
Posted 10 years agoSeriously, the last journal I made was about my birthday last year? Holy crap. Man, I am a champion procrastinator.
Ah well. It's my birthday! I can't be blamed or anything today. Everyone line up and get bigger.

Going to FA United? Yes/No/Eggplant
Posted 11 years agoSo I'm gonna daytrip FAU this weekend...maybe see some of you there!
Anthrocon 2014 HOOOOOO
Posted 11 years agoSo I know I've been offline most of the year...but I will be going to AC2014 so that's something, right? Anyway, I'm off tomorrow to Pittsburgh!
Fav Spam
Posted 11 years agoHmm. So I've been exceptionally lazy with FA for about four years now. My gallery has about ten thousand submissions in it that I need to go through. Part of me wants to nuke it and start over because it's a pretty big number. And part of me wants to go through and actually fav the stuff I like and delete the rest.
Of course, that would undoubtedly spam the crap out of artist's accounts, suddenly getting favs for a ton of art posted over the last four years. Is this bad etiquette? Then again, I won't be doing them all at once, that's impossible...might run through a few hundred and then run out of patience for the day. Maybe it won't be that bad?
I dunno, any opinions? :)

Happy Birthday to Meeeeeee
Posted 12 years agoYup. Today's the day. I didn't have to do much. My mom did all the work. c.c
Anthrocon ho!
Posted 12 years agoI am going to AC this year! Looking forward to it after missing it last year. So off I go, and I expect a thousand unread submissions/journals when I get back!
Has anyone blocked you on FA before?
Posted 12 years agoSo, I discovered by random chance that an artist on FA has blocked me. Which I find weird since I don't think I've ever communicated with this person, ever. Naw, I won't name this guy since no sense stirring up shit for no reason, but it does make me wonder...why? I mean, it's not like I can just ask directly since I'm blocked. If we knew each other and I did something bad, like accidentally deep frying his mother's arm up to the elbow (it was an accident!), I could see this. But this seemingly random blocking is making me scratch my head.
Eh, guess there's really nothing to be said about it, other than wanting to know why...since I like to know things.
Also: HYPER HERMS. Just 'cuz.

Gotham Central trade paperbacks
Posted 13 years agohttp://astor.macrophile.com/upload/.....am_Central.jpg
Anyone want a four book set of Gotham Central comics in trade paperback? These are the 2004 prints, I believe. Cheap! Twenty bucks, I guess...not really collectible or anything, just a good story! Note me if you want 'em!

GERMANY: Going to Eurofurence. Who else?
Posted 13 years agoHey! So I'll be at EF 18 at the Maritim Hotel in Magdeburg, Germany. I'll be the guy drinking beer. No, the other one. No, the OTHER one.
The only thing I'm sure about doing is the Motor Fur meet since I want to see what is the hot rod culture without GM/Ford/Chrysler involved. A pile of old Benz diesels? E30 BMWs? Who knows!
So yeah, who's gonna be over there?

Am I A Dinosaur Yet?
Posted 14 years agoWhen I was 16 I decided to choose a dinosaur as my furry character. This was foresight, for eventually I'd be old enough to be a dinosaur so it'd match.
Today I turned 32...am I there yet?

Nnuggh...turkey...
Happy after-turkey day, everyone. I am very thankful for all that I have, all the good in life. It's easy to be blinded by what you don't have or want, but that doesn't take away all the wonderful things that are already there. Sometimes it's good to have a reminder of that. And turkey.

Selling two 1TB hard drives CHEAP
Posted 15 years agoI've got two Western Digital SATA 3.5" internal hard drives. One is a "Green" model, one is a "Black" model, both 1TB. The green one is a lower RPM drive, the black is a 7200RPM one. I see the green is $60 new, and the black is $90 new. I'd take $40 for the green and $60 for the black, shipped CONUS. Any further and you'd contribute a little extra to the shipping cost. I think that's fair. :>

Posted 15 years agoNo, wait...I meant 31 years.
Thank you to all who wished me a happy birthday today. Just speak up, I'm having a hard time hearing you, sonny. WHAT? EH? IN MY DAY WE HAD A NINTENDO ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM AND WE WERE GRATEFUL!
Oh, and of course the people who threw oversized online everything at me, since y'know I like that. :3

Posted 15 years agoMorehead City...when I hear "morehead" I think it's a porn name. But it's actually a beachfront town in North Carolina parked between Camp Lejeune and Marine Air Station Cherry Point. I'm here for work but it feels like more of a vacation than anything given the last week.
The house is coming along. The last week has been filled with hours spent after work throwing away junk, buying paint and materials at Home Depot, and culminating in the last five days of whirlwind drywall taping, mudding, sanding, cleaning, primering, painting, carpet ripping, staple and tack strip pulling marathon. Various local friends graciously donated hours of time for the mere reward of donuts and diner food but boy did they earn it. First rule of home projects: it will take twice as long as you thought it would. Then double that time again.
But the place is pretty well prepped. I'm in North Carolina all this week at Cherry Point for a maintenance and logistics pow-wow, then in Rhode Island this Saturday-Sunday for a family thing (at least I can then say I've been in the littlest state) and then Monday a crew is coming in to sand and refinish the old hardwood floors in the house that were hiding under the carpets. I'd love to have nice hardwood floors, but right now I'd take "well, looks pretty good considering they're 60 years old" floors. Expectations dwindle as money, labor, and time for home projects increase sharply.
I am now going to sleep in this big comfy Hampton Inn bed, the first real full night's sleep since 10 days ago. Leave it to buying a house to make work turn into a vacation!
