Art Challenge May 2009

I came up with this idea recently, just something fun and challenging to do once a month. Each new challenge with start on the 1st of the month. Challenge yourself and have fun! Remember, these are not a requirement to do!
How it works:
Both a journal and image are uploaded with the challenge for the month. On the image and journal feel free to post idea's for next months challenge and also a link to the picture you create that month! Images can be whatever you want them to be, from simple sketches to complex pieces, but remember, it is a challenge so try to push yourself! Simple enough, though I am open to idea's as how to improve how this is all set up!
A simple request for the images when they are uploaded, Please link back to AC so more people can join!
And onto the challenge!
This month's challenge is to combine two or more species of animal, they can be something you've drawn rarely or something new! Take the opportunity to find out about some new species and learn a bit about them and have fun combining them with some other animal!

Have fun with this challenge, a few idea's is draw a native animal as the "Easter bunny" rather than a rabbit, or create an Easter image in a media you've never used before.

This month you can choose between one of two challenges, or do both if your up for it!
Challenge one is draw an image using just shadows. No outlines, just the shadows that would be shown in the image and no other details at all!
Challenge two is very similar, except with markings, no outlines, no shadows, just draw the markings in the shape of the animal or thing. Keep in mind with this it will help if you choose something with a lot of markings, a zebra or leopard.
