More Mysteries
Posted 15 years agoRemember back in 2004 (I think) when Janet Jackson had the 'wardrobe malfunction'? Then all the legal action taken against the NFL and NBC for showing R rated material on tv, that children and people have been traumatized by what they saw?
I'm pretty sure the mental trauma is a load of BS, but what -IF- there was a few that actually were traumatized by the sight of Janet Jackson's breast??? Like, are they out there right now, rocking on their bed, not being able to sleep due to images of this breast that appear when they close their eyes. 'Must not sleep, boooob, booooooooooob!!! No NO NO go away!!! GO AWAY!!!!'

Ferris Bueller's Day Off : Mystery
Posted 15 years agoHas anyone reading this watched Ferris Bueller's Day Off. Those of you that have, did you ever wonder why there was a huge parade on a school day?? Since Ferris is skipping school, it must be a regular day not a public holiday.
Nearly died in Africa
Posted 15 years agoGot an infection, nearly died, in a third world country. Stay far far far away from Africa.
Commissions
Posted 15 years agoI'm so irritated by artists that gladly take your money after winning their auction then practicaly dissapearing from the planet. This totally sucks for honest artists that do fulfill their work. Because of these bad apples I'm extremely hesitant to bid on any comission auctions any more.
I know of one that dissapeared cause they went broke, but finally convinced them to work on my suit if I sent them more money to help out. Another artist, who will be nameless, hasn't got back to me for over a year. I'm an understanding person, I just wish they would email me and say 'sorry but...'

Ethiopian BS!!!
Posted 15 years agohttp://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/8611970.stm
Happened here, with the crews I looks after. The Ethiopian minister is full of shit. The man in question had a driver and a soldier escorting him. They were ambushed by the ONLF, Ogaden National Liberation Front, which means the attack was politically motivated to create embarasement for the current Ethiopian government.

Good Point
Posted 15 years agoBilly Connoly, a Scottish comedian made a good point at one of his stand ups.
Why do they call it 'blow jobs'? There's isn't any blowing invovled, and if there is I'm sure it would hurt...

Pondering
Posted 15 years agoI've always wondered about this expression 'you can't tell your ass from a hole in the ground'.
Can this actually happen to someone?? Like would they go out using toilet paper on random ground holes and leave underpants all over the backyard after a rather confusing morning trying to dress themselves?

My reply to Sasurai, the world needs to know!
Posted 15 years agoThe only organizations that appear to have a pure ethic are Doctors Without Borders and the Optometrists Organization that distribute free eye glasses.
Other ogranizations which give free education usually have religious agendas, won't allow children into their school unless they convert to their faith. Supposedly whole traditions on villages have been lost due to this.
What needs to be done is to let these countries be left alone and let the people sort out their own affairs. What the west can do is get rid of trade restrictions, let Africa export crops. I'm in Ethiopia, a country which everyone sees as a waste land of starvation! That's bull shit, this place is a bread basket! Farmers won't farm due to restrictive trade agreements, and they can't produce for local markets because of all the stupid food aid that's brought in from the UN. The market next to me sells tinned 'US Aid' tins, which clearly on the side says 'NOT FOR RESELL'.
We need to get rid of the stupid farmer's subsidies in our countries like the US, Canada, and the ones in Europe. Then the Africans can actually compete, not to mention it will allow our countryside at home to regenerate and let the wildlife grow.
Man, working in Africa has made me so so so bitter.

Stay out of Africa
Posted 15 years ago17 days until I can leave this place... Anyone that reads my journal please be advised NOT to give to charity organizations that claim to help the poor in Africa. This would include the Christian Children's Fund, UNICEF, the Red Cross, Oxfam. They do not help Africans, they keep these people in poverty. They help keep corrupt governments in power by feeding a population that could otherwise rebel if pushed, allowing the government to use it's money to support over lavish life styles on par with the British Royal Family, and military equipment to keep the population in check.
The Ethiopian government is extremely corrupt, the president Girma Woldegiorgis should be removed from office and sent to the Hague for crimes against humanity. An election is coming up in May but all opposition to the party in power are being put in jail, banned from enterting the country or being harassed.
The United Nations mission over here is also a corrupt organization. We have a UN house next to our staff house in Addis Ababa. They have lavish, loud parties which are an afront to the dignity expected of the UN. Not one UN vehicle seems to get 1000 miles before it's replaced with a new truck. The world at large should know about this!

Still still in Ethiopia
Posted 16 years agoSo I need to have a stupid long discussion with someone, I'll go to a theatre for that, have it during a suspense movie. Then afterwards I'll most likely need to pee so I'll go to a public swimming pool for that.
Still in Ethiopia
Posted 16 years agoThis country is awful, I hate being here. But because the Calgary job market sucks so much this is my only option for good paying work.
I hate hearing from my friends rubbing it in my face when they go out and have fun, I'm sure they don't intend it that way. Just when I'm over here and can't do anything do relieve my lonliness or boredom. I can't even go out for a walk from the staff house due to a fatality here last week. Maybe I'm doing something wrong. Friends of mine that make much less seem to be a lot happier than me.
Glad I have Wulfy to talk to, a wolf fur stuck in Uganda with the same frustrations. As they say misery enjoys company.
