What have I been up to lately? Apart from the occasional mental breakdown on social media due to depression and similar? Not really much. Still lacking steady employment in terms of writing and still kinda stuck in an isolating retail job of no escape.

Who gives a shit?

That's kinda the mood I'm at for this year. The whole "nothing matters" outlook has certainly helped(?) a lot, recognizing that a lot of situations that I'm under are influenced by outside sources I have no control over. Job market's broke. Cost of living is up. I just wanna vibe in my corner.

So that's what I'm gonna do.

I'll be trying to make a name of myself, sure, but at my own pace and at my own merits. Trying to write new stories and such, that sort of thing. After that, whatever happens, happens. I'm doing my half.

The Website

Into the Vanessaverse has existed for about a month now, to polite applause. It's not much, and it's still coming up there, but it's mine and I'm happy with what I'm doing with it. We're still learning on the job, so any updates we add are impulsive and poorly thought-out. On the flip side, they have tags now! Stories can be organized by their content. And there will certainly be more stories, with new ones consistently as I eventually try phasing out services that don't do anyone any good.

ShifterCon

Those in the TF community may have heard of https://shiftercon.com/, an online event being hosted to celebrate. As it turns out, despite everyone's better judgement, I have been made a panelist with other talented authors.

The TF Writers panel will run on October 26th from 2-3 PM EST, and I'll be working with such talent as Lappi, GeoHolms, and more. Do be sure to attend and say nice things to everyone.

On a serious note, it's just...nice. It's nice to be given such privilege as to be a recognizable face in the TF writer's community that I can discuss about it on a stage. I am very appreciative for the opportunity, I can tell you that much.

It is still very much a work in progress, and we've not nearly gotten all the stories we want on there--but it's up. The website is alive.

It's a small little archive of stories, plus we also included a who's who of our rogue's gallery, plus some future faces and names, an Easter egg if you're clever, and eventually we'll add more content as I figure out how to make things. Give it a peek if you want! And do suggest new things if you want more things.

Considering that FA's moderation team managed to take all of the goodwill the site had garnered in the wake of Dragoneer's passing, then subsequently shat on it, I should consider other options for posting content. To that end, we're making a website.

Yeah, I know, I'm shocked too. But we're aiming to post our stories for viewing, as well as handy PDF downloads to boot. Looking to add a comment system, socials, the works. Tags and such. I dunno, it's still in the early stages and I just bought the dang thing yesterday.

It's a work in progress, but we'll keep you posted on its status.

I didn't know Dragoneer directly. Most of what I knew of him came from indirect responses to this very website. But hearing what others say of him, and the legacy he has left behind, that's certainly powerful by itself.

FurAffinity had its problems, I won't lie, but there was passion in it. This was, and still is, a bastion of furry community, free of corporate takeovers and bots. Ultimately Dragoneer knew this, and bought the site back from IMVU to personally play a role in cultivating this space.

Let us do our part to keep this site going in his honor. Let us not forget those who have passed, and continue living for those still here.

It's been a while and I know I've been slacking on taking paid work versus gift work. Fortunately I'm in enough of a groove to take commissions again, I do believe. At this time of writing, I have one on the queue, but I can take notes for future ones.

Some ground rules:

1. I will be somewhat picky about the ideas. If it doesn't speak to me, or I feel I cannot do it justice, I may have to decline the order.

2. Rates are $30/1000 words, plus $15 for every 500 words I hit on a *flat rate*. If I write 499 words, we do not charge you extra.

3. I WILL write stories about my typical fare--TF, shrinking or growing, vore, etc. If you're uncertain, don't hesitate to ask.

4. Also, NSFW, such as sex and nudity, are on a case-by-case basis but these are negotiable.

5. I will NOT write underage play, incest, rape, excessive gore, and other such content. No exceptions.

6. Payment will be requested upon completion of the work but prior to being given it. I shall provide invoices upon completion. If you have any edits to make at that stage, please inform me at that time. You get ONE additional revision, so make it count; further requests will incur an additional charge of $5 for every further edit. Do note that the additional revision can include more than one change for the draft; I mean we charge for extra cases.

Vibing, mostly. Trying to keep on track, keeping stable in a world increasingly hostile to creators of art and writing and such. Keeping up a stable income for a field I increasingly wish to escape versus letting my passions run wild. The occasional calisthenics, the usual.

I've still been writing, just more sporadically and with varying levels of quality. Trying to develop the ol' portfolio a bit more, since a lot of these stories aren't exactly things I'd show any recruiter when pressed for examples of my own work. Like I wrote a Spyro animated series speculative script for fun. It was a neat experiment.

Other than that, I've been considering giving this page a rebrand to really show how Vanessa has upended the whole status quo; she's practically the face of the operation now. And with DA sucking every kind of ball known to mankind, FA is the one hub I still have that allows my writing to grow without being stuck in a dark room, showing it to the ficus I have chained up to the radiator. (It knows what it did.)

Anyway, I'll move more of the DA-exclusive stories here over the next week or so, and I'll hopefully have more unique content incoming as well. Still not in the mindset for commissions, per say, but that's still something in the cards for the future. No promises, though.

Yes, I'm not dead.

I've been spending a lot of time ruminating, toying with ideas over time and generally trying to make a career out of this. It's stagnant, this market. No one's hiring despite saying they are. They won't even look at the resume sometimes.

Yet I'm still here.

I know last time I was on the throes of yet another mental breakdown, and I apologize for that. I've doubled down on the Vanessa personality via a new dA account, and during that time frame I've reignited the passion. Wrote a few stories I will soon post here too. Got more on the burner. Folks, I am BACK.

To all of you people who stuck by me, who offered support, who otherwise jabbed me with a stick to get me motivated: thank you. You are the continued reason I'm writing.

Haven't really written a full story in several months, and hadn't exactly felt like doing so in that span of time. Even trying to nudge myself by plotting trades is doing nothing for me whatsoever. I'm...trying, I suppose. But I've kinda reached my cap on this. Not feeling inspired for my own writing, and with this AI crap--and a disturbing amount of people who are excited to see artistic pursuits overtaken by soulless computers, it really puts a damper on the thing I spent my life on.

Just as well, anyway. FA's recent policy changes are convoluted, described poorly, and enforced by people who quite literally do not care about their service. Not that it changes much, but I'll not be posting anything here for the near future. If at all.

The full story was present on Twitter, but essentially I had another breakdown. Shocker, I know. Essentially I fell into the same trap I always do, where I overexert myself in trying to make friends, exhausting myself and then collapsing when I eventually realize there is no reciprocation. Happened a lot in school and college, happens here.

To be clear, I'm not mad at anyone beyond myself. This is something I'm working on and am struggling with but I'm not giving up yet.

Though I'll be practicing a lot of boundaries for a while. Limited socialization, for example. No cameos, as I've stated. It's the Agent and Vanessa show here.

I mean beyond the trades, like one I'll post today that I did about a month ago. But still.

Deleted the last story that was up for personal reasons. I'm taking a break, indefinitely. This isn't working out for me and I can't keep pretending that I'm doing better when I'm clearly not.

Okay, basically ignore everything I said yesterday. Well, not *everything*--the depression is still a thing.

But I listened to what others had to say, considered their vantages. And they were right. I have to reconsider WHY I write first, THEN work on getting the dolla dolla bills ya'll.

Tends to be a common theme around here with me, constantly writing or drawing to impress people that are not worth impressing when I have people who actually like me without doing any of that shit. Difficult to break the habit...but I'll work on it.

Back to my point. Writing is still on the table, and after giving it some further thought, I could either have a pity party or I could get serious. And I guess I chose the latter. Kinda. It's more like I'm pissed off now but have elected to use that energy productively in aiming to make SURE that writing career takes off after all. We'll have to see what random stuff comes of it but I'm not done yet. I'm not giving up yet. Despite everything in my head telling me to do things to myself, I'm still here.

Hey guys, been a bit since my last journal because I'm lazy sometimes.

As you saw, I've been posting a few stories from the backlog. Got one more prepped, plus another that needs a thumbnail but I'd be caught up then. Still got other stories on the burner to write, including a major one that's more like a narrative than a fetish story. It's all good hopefully.

In other news, still working hard. Still trying to get that book published and my career jumpstarted. Slow goings, but I'm getting there, gradually. Not giving up yet.

Hey guys, been a while since I did another journal. Since Halloween, even.

You may have noticed I've still been posting stories here and there, although I've temporarily paused that. I have some on the burner I can post, and I will, but I'll need a bit of time to get them all in here.

There is a reason for my brief pauses, I can assure you, and it's nothing bad. Quite good, even.

I had previously mentioned that one of my major projects was in the works, a full-length novel, my magnum opus. It had taken several months of work and procrastination, but I am happy to say that the rough draft, at least, is complete.

Yes, the novel, such as it is, is complete at long last.

Exciting, truly! I'll be editing it progressively after some analysis from one of my good friends, then submitting for publication shortly after (then starting the sequel). In the meantime, I'll resume stories in short order, so we'll see what happens soon.

Now, I know I've not posted a new journal in a while, but I figured I'd set in a new one to tell you November's plans. As you may know, November is National Novel Writer's Month. Several of my good friends are aware of my behind-the-scenes projects of mine that are in the works, especially the magnum opus, and I intend on finishing at least the rough draft by NaNoWriMo's end. That means, and I stress this, all future commissions will be on hold until further notice. This includes all gift writing. I absolutely need to focus on this project if I'm gonna have it see the light of day.

But don't fret, my friends, I'll still have things at work. Come December, and I'll have a brand new event going on to enjoy. I'll discuss the details as we approach then, but it'll be a month-long display of merriment and fun.

Oh jeez, haven't posted a new journal or art in a while.

For starters, I'm not dead, just busy. I've hardly had time to draw more Comic Relief, and I have no writings that are suitable for posting yet. However I've tossed around a lot of cash and gotten commissions, you've all seen those. Hopefully I can get back into the swing of things soon.
