Are you planning on rigging the character too, or do you want to keep it as just a static image overlay?

yeah! the rigging is gonna be a bit rudimentary but i feel like some movement is a big step up from none, might have that set up soon... also since like half of what i do is beat saber i really need to jury rig some sort of 3d version as well v.v;

That's definitely true, even simple animations make a huge diffrence! Moving segments like ears, hair or maybe even your collar are always cool to watch.
I am playing a bit with 3D myself ... mainly because I don't feel confident at all in my 2D art skills, but it's hard. Aggrotard on YT has some great streamlined tutorials (At least to me these in-depth hour+ videos can be a bit intimidating ^^')
