What's your favorite food?

Hey all! Sorry for the absence lately. I have been incredibly busy. But I still want to know a bit more about you!
What's your favorite food? Do you know how to make it? Do you have it often? Is it exotic where you live?
You don't have to follow me to answer. Just hop in and let's have a conversation in the comments!

I think I know how to make them. I just used to buy the salmon fillets and just have them raw. It was a challenge to get the ones that were truly fresh.
But I've been a vegan for almost 2 years and I'll be honest, it's the thing I miss the most. I don't think I have a new "favorite" as intense as that... not just yet.
I think I accidentally put some paprika on the last one I had and it wasn’t good... but it wasn’t bad either!
it's in the rulebook
Other than sushi, I have to go for hmm... Oh, my mom's wonderful lasagna. Her particular one is just... it has SUCH A GOOD TASTE - with all that cream and cheese... Fuck.
Something a bit more exotic would be uh... Fideuà
Very very good. It's odd how much I prefer it over Paella despite the biggest difference being that it is pasta and not rice.
More "home-y" however? Some uh... corn flour boiled buns (Bollitos in Venezuela) with some ham or deviled ham, eggs and butter. You just mix it all together. It may not *look* tasty but the flavor? oh... It brings so many good memories
I hope your vegan diet has been treating you well though! Sorry that all of mine are so un-vegan-like x)
I can't believe I never tried Fideuà, sounds like something I would love. It always seemed to me like I would really love Paella but seafood always seemed a bit yucky to me. And yet my favorite dish is raw salmon? [insert clip of Bill Nye saying: "It just makes no fucking sense."]
I'd love to try some bollitos. You know, something that struck me as odd is that every country's "bread" is widely different. Even if they're just corn, or wheat or... I don't know. I guess the source of the ingredients make a huge difference. Bollitos have been added to my list!
And yeah, it really is fun to see how much did can vary! I don't know if the bollitos count as bread though. It's more like... A dumpling?
Do say
Since becoming vegan and sushi not being much of an option anymore, what's your new most liked dish?
You know? I’m not sure really. There are a lot of things I really like, but I don’t think there’s one that is at THAT level. A few ones that I keep coming back to, in no particular order: pizza, avocados, edamame, taco bowls, burgers. (All of those that are not obvious have replacements with vegan options.)
Veggie pizza is to die for in some instances. I am a sucker for mushrooms and corn on them. Maybe with bell peppers and black olives. Hooooh~
Though I feel like with burgers it ends up being more of a sandwich!
good options though~
There is plant based meat! “Beyond meat” (that’s the brand name) even tastes smoky. I also tried the “impossible burger” (also plant based) and it was really the same as meat. It works better for burgers because they are well done so part of the meat flavour is hidden. There’s no good replacement for a barbecue just yet.
But I am very curious! I would love to try any substitute so long it tastes good <3
Mom DID find a way to make patties out of green beans - and it tasted *Very similar* because it has the same dressing you'd put on meat, it's fun. Though it is nowhere as thick and hmm.. "moist" as meat and meat substitutes - it's a very flat patty, but it passes!
Green beans.. that's an interesting one. I'll have to give it a try.
Especially sushi rolls. Unagi (eel) ones is my absolute favourites! It s kinda tough to find a decent eel here D:
I have my own recipe for the vinegar rice and I make myself some rolls on birthday ^^
They are pretty popular in my town, so we have lots of fast-foods selling those insanely cheap. Those are not like in Japan, of course, totally western style, but still I can eat tons of them :D
If I want something veggie I make myself rolls with avocado, cucumber and feta with unagi sause ^^
It took me a long time to get into Unagi but once I did, I really enjoyed them. They have just a unique taste. Kind of sweet, right?
How do you get access to "real" Japanese cuisine? I've been to lots of sushi places, both Japanese-owned and not-Japanese owned but it seems that they are always "westernized". Not that I could tell (haven't been to Japan myself), but without going to Japan, is there a trick?
I thought you were going to go with pancakes! They're next to your nickname and all! lol
Unagi is indeed unique, yes, that kind of swet just hits the spot!
I never went to Japan but I was lucky to met a Japanese girl. She was a guest in our language camp were I worked and the first question children asked her was "How do you like sushi in Russia?" :D
She was kind enough to show me a place were they make them close enough to what she used to taste at home.
Still, I like to think that a usual Japanese person probanly makes them at home just the ay I do, using whatever is left in the fridge... XD
I like pancackes more like a childhood memory than a real food ^^*
Another good one is a chicken teriyaki recipe I found online, most savory :9
Are you a salt-in-the-water pasta person? Oil-in-the-water? Or nothing-in-the-water?
Since you're going vegan, tried a meatless side dish from faccc2, came out pretty good

That recipe looks amazing! I might have to substitute the butter (easy), heavy cream (that'll be challenging), parmesan (easy-ish). That plate gives me cold-day-autumn vibes.
Preparation instructions
To open, slide finger under tab and break seal from left to right.
lol, so if you do it right to left, it's wrong? Is there a way to prepare cereal wrong? (maybe that and pouring the milk first, but that is a punishable criminal act).
I used to SO be into Kellog's Frosted Flakes, but I think back in the ~2000s they changed the recipe because it was butt-loaded with sugar. Not so much anymore.
BTW, I'm also one of those persons that can do cereal for lunch and dinner. Up top!
- You inserting a finger violently below the tab of the cereal box
- You pulling up exaggeratedly to open it up
- You turning the box upside down completely (with an evil grin) over the cereal bowl
- Plot twist: the full plastic wrapper comes out, the anger is palpable
