Well, looks like my five year old intuos pen and touch finally died on me tonight. My first sign of trouble was when it wouldn't add pressure to random pen strokes, and after I tried updating the drivers it decided to start adding a jagged edge in the middle of each stroke as well. Then a few mins later it stops detecting pressure entirely no matter what driver I'm using.
I'm not entirely surprised tbh, the thing was getting pretty beat up over the years and the surface looked like an ice skating rink. My only problem is that they don't seem to produce my model anymore (pen and touch M CTH-680), so I guess I'm wondering if any of you guys have any suggestions for a good alternative? All the new ones I see seem to only have bluetooth connections as well, and I'm not entirely sure if my desktop supports that as an option, or would it even matter since the new wacoms are the type that comes with the little usb stub you plug in a slot.
Edit:
Okay, I managed to get it working again by downloading a newer version of Sai 2. But I'm still having the issue with the pen randomly refusing to add pressure sometimes, as well as randomly giving my strokes a sharp spot near the end. By this point I can't tell if its the tablets fault or Sai, but tbh it's about time I updated tablet anyway so I'm still open for suggestions regarding that.

FA+

That aside, if I was an artist....its...obviously not super optimal...but I'd invest in two tablets, one for use and one for a future back-up...there's no gaurantee...and honestly that's legit biting a machine gun or sniper bullet just for a back-up or contingency plan.
As far as I know the new ones have the usb thingy to connect them to pcs that doesnt have bluethooth tho im not 100%. I plan on buying a new one so ill be able to say when i get it. Mine is also 5 years old and its dying slowly
