Soooooooooooooo, this is a weird one.
But I just discovered the people I'm renting a room from?
Yeah, they have a child filter on the internet here... :s
There's no kids here or anything.
And NO, I didn't find this out trying to watch pr0n. I was trying to go here;

It's a site that sends someone a load of dicks - I wanted to see how much it was because I thought it'd be funny to send some to my bestie. LOOKS LIKE THAT AINT HAPPENING NOW.
But like.. What do I do?
I'm paying £550 a month to live here, ($726 to my US watchers)
That's a LOT of money to be having a child filter on the internet...
And what if the service provider randomly flags FA?
COULD it even do that?
I need to ask to get it taken off but I have no fucking clue how without it sounding like I wanna get my jollies....

basically worst case scenario, you can use a proxy or a VPN for sites that it blocks
you go to one website and put in a web address for a 2nd website that is loaded by the first
you want to go to site B but it is blocked , you instead go to site A and put in the address for site B and the site A server loads site B circumventing the block
useful for viewing blocked pages, NOT useful for anything secure because the proxy server will see everything you are doing , also generally a very slow option
there are a lot of free options and some pay options
VPN (virtual private network)
the same general idea as proxy but private and more secure
basically you use your internet to connect to a server then all your internet traffic goes through that server circumventing the block because all your ISP sees is that all your internet traffic is going to the VPN server
Useful for viewing blocked pages and for secure transactions (but you still need to be careful), faster than proxy but still slower than your plain internet
mostly pay options and a few free options
If they do nothing about the filter look up a program called TunnelBear

Its a vpn like how gryphon explains but to sum it up it bypasses the filter and makes it so even the isp can't see what your looking at. Also if you use your phone or laptop in public areas on public WiFi stops people seeing all your information.

Also, the family could have the lock on due to personal problems. Such as some kind of addiction or something else you dont know of. A child block isnt necessarily only for children.
if its blocked by dns, try using google's dns servers!

They can believe what they want, don't let it affect you being able to work efficiantly <33 (I know its not so easy but working is more important, I was super awkward when I had to ask my freaking grandma if I could get rid of the block cause I live with her xDDDD But it was for the best <3)
