Mmmmmhmm so remember how I said I got a new computer for art? I bought a Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga. So far, it's been wonderful. HUGE Wacom compatible screen with a digitizer pen, I've never use a more comfortable interface for art. It's had it's issues, like the fact that if you use it for more than half an hour it won't shut completely down and you have to hold the power button and kill it, and the screen has some very noticeable ghosting issues, but at least it'd been things I don't have to worry about.
Until tonight. I thought my screen was getting dirty, so I grabbed a cloth and went at it. But I could still see what looked like some substance on the screen. So I cleaned harder. Turns out no, it's damage. To the screen. FROM DRAWING ON IT WITH A FUCKING DIGITIZER PEN. Is it really that far from the intended use of this machine that I would be using it to draw artwork??
There are these odd squared patterns of dying pixels showing up on the screen exactly where my pen is usually contacting the screen when I'm doing artwork. And in bright light you can see there are patterns of thin scratches and wear from the pen tip on the screen. So despite literally being intended to be used with a digitizer pen the screen is too delicate to fucking draw on long term. GREAT.
Does anyone have a solid recommendation for a tablet PC with WACOM (definite requirement for me) that isn't absolute trash? I'm sorely disappointed by this issue. Don't misunderstand, I'm going to use this motherfucker until there's a hole in the screen and I can't see what's on it for the time being but it's obviously already time to save up for a brand new unit due to this unbelievably shortsighted design problem. And before you ask no, I absolutely am not one of those people who draws pushing the pen down with force. I wish I WAS, because then all I'd have to do is get used to drawing lightly.
I mean how do you design a tablet computer screen so poorly that it gets DAMAGED BY CONTACT WITH ITS OWN FUCKING PEN.

Anyways, as far as I know, one of the best ones currently is Wacom Intuos, but it may be expensive.

I have one and use it only for art purposes. I only have Photoshop and SAI on it and thats it. Nothing else. Its simple, its not all fancy and it runs windows 7 if you want it.
Just dont drop it because it will shatter like fine china.
Upgrade it to max ram and you should be set. Set the settings to performance and it should be fine.
The only flaw is the battery. Buy a brand new one. Usually you will be connected to the AC but if you need to be mobile with it, a good battery should do its job.
Hehe yeah when it comes to brand new pc tablets, they tend to wear and tear too fast so i stood away with new gadgets until at least they iron out the problems with newer models.
This one i have and its been good so far. Like i said though, only for art. No music, VLC, itunes, no nothing. Just SAI and PS. Install your fonts and you be good. Dont stream with it. I tried and its too slow but streaming. You would have to buy a used Wacom if you gonna stream.
Good luck .
My Cintiq only cost me $150 ;3 but it was from china sadly. You have to use a I/O Serial port to plug it in. THe old classic monitor plug.
So if you use HDMI you can use dual screen if you on a pc and depending on your graphics card if it has the port.
My tablet has about 2gigs of ram. Its slow but the drawing is decent. It lags only slightly as long as you only have a minimum of things installed then you should be fine.
Good luck i hope you find what you are looking for and wont have to waste any more money ;3.
There is no real solid recommendation though, basically I think spending too much money on a tablet PC is wasted money, since you can't upgrade any of the components (CPU, RAM) that are soldered directly onto the motherboard. And I hate that >:V
Also what you could/should do, once you found yourself a new favorite tablet to draw on, is get yourself a matte screen protector for it. Not only will it make the environment reflections less, but it will also provide more grip to the surface so your pen doesn't slip around randomly. Plus it prevents scratches to the actual screen. Maybe you can still do that to your current one :V
