You don't become better at something by giving up.
Amelioration, yo.
I personally like to draw parallels between improving at something and exercising/bodybuilding. Just starting off, 10 minutes on a treadmill or 8 reps of curls with a small weight will be draining. If you only do it once in a blue moon or you don't learn better techniques, you're gonna get stuck in that same spot. But as you keep at it, learn, improve, you gain muscle and endurance, and as such can do more reps, have longer stretches of cardio, etc.
But the same goes for stuff like math, art and writing: one doesn't get good at it overnight. Some may have more of a natural aptitude for it than others of course, but generally the way to get good at it is to do it a lot. You can find ways to get better at it or learn neat tricks to help you along the way, but even then, effort born of a desire to grow your art/math/writing muscle is at its base. And similar to how you can get out of shape if you don't work out for a while, not working on your craft for a while can cause you to become rusty.
I suppose you could improve in time... Just not your lifetime.
The amount of art on here though... says otherwise.
