Sorry about the no wings thing -- since the cameo spots are being done gratis, the artist will be leaning toward simpler characters, and wings is one of those things that often ups the ante.

Awww man! Create a Twitter, it's easy. :). Then just post what you just said here, and maybe the artist will pick you! Probably not because drawing a character with no ref is harder and more expensive usually, and these are freebie spots, so ... But worth a try. :)

Ok. Do I just say what my character is?

Well, it's not just what species it is, you'd have to describe the character in some way. But Twitter doesn't leave a lot of room for that, only 147 characters or whatever. So, I recommend ... let's see ... ah, yes, make an FA journal entry describing your character! Like, one paragraph about the physical appearance, and maybe another paragraph with some character traits, like what kind of personality they have, and what they like to do, and so forth.

If you can find any close visual references, link them into your journal description, and describe what about that visual reference relates to your character. For example, "Ears like <this>, but a longer tail like <that>, and ..." So forth. In this way you can use your imagination plus other images to compose an idea of your character that an artist can use to create something close to what you imagine, something unique, something YOU. :)

Of course, if you want to start out really simple, just describe something generic, like, "A tiger in a green shirt and a pink bow tie". And let the character evolve from there. So, like, the with next artist after that you can tell them, "Ok, here's a picture of a tiger with a green shirt and a pink bow tie. My character is like that, but instead of black stripes, draw him with pink stripes." And so on and so on until you have all the details worked out.

I know one guy whose character changes a little bit every year on his birthday. It's neat!

That's a great start! Ok, so post a link to that journal in the tweet from this morning, and we'll see what happens. :) There's gonna be a lot of people, so you might not get picked, but now you have something that you can point other artists to until someone is willing to draw your character for the very first time. ^_^ I look forward to seeing it some day!
