That's an interesting thing, because it very well could be that they are trying to sugar coat things to potentially get free art. Others are doing it because they actually do not have the funds and are still expressing the interest in the artist, to keep the artist motivated that they may have a potential future customer. It's tough to tell in certain cases.


It's when you get the twats that say "Aww I wish I could spend $20 on you but I just dont have enough" then go and drop $200-300 on six other artists RIGHT after they tell you that.

The furry art market is deceptive, you have to be cautious. :D

or the people who claim they're at risk and need to sell stuff asap, and then the next day they have some pricey trinket or gadget on display :P

I have been guilty of this, but usually I keep it off the journal comments. I can assume like you have that many are trying to cheat people out of art. I do it because I love someone's art and I am just telling them that I would pay to have a piece made by them because of how much I love it.

I am a quiet person usually and I have only recently been speaking in the community. I didn't have my own character and so I didn't feel like I had a subject to commission using. Plus, after a long battle with paypal, I finally got my account working. With the opportunity to commission people I just felt like I wanted to commission everyone. Obviously, I cannot.

It isn't like I just drop it on top of someone in a note or anything either. If I do so, it's generally after praising their work over and over again because the talent of the people on this site is phenomenal to me. I understand why this behavior can be believed to have ulterior motives, but at least for me it is the result of not feeling that I can adequately describe how much I like other's art.
