Greninja's? Frogs or Lizards?

I've personally seen tons of these critters appearing in artwork and although they have a weird tongue-thing and two webbed fingers/toes, are they really frogs? Would they be more suitable as lizards or newts/salamanders?
It would be interesting to hear everyone's view on this!!

I think they could have made it more froglike and less like a lizard but hey ho!
