THE 50-QUESTION TF MEME
(key: 0=no/never - 5=yes/always)
General interests:
I like TF art...
3 – While inflation has always been my “main” Weird Furry Thing, TF art always manages to stand out to me.
I like TF stories...
3 – I've got this weird love/hate relationship with transformation stories. Well done ones explore a lot of neat themes, but poorly done ones tend to squick me right out. The answers ahead should hopefully make more sense of this.
I am a TF artist...
0 – I'd like to take a crack at it someday, but the itch to really sit down and try has never really got me yet.
I am a TF writer...
1 – I have a couple characters who are canonical transformation victims (Isaac being the most recent one I've made any art of), and I have a number of werewolf/shapeshifter characters (Mutt, Leo, Chuck/Chuckles), but I've yet to actually write a real story about them.
I like to roleplay TF...
2 – Like any RP I do that might involve a kink, I usually prefer weaving it into a bigger narrative, or make it a small episode of a character in the middle of a more story heavy RP. Even when it's not, it's only because I'm RPing with someone I've known for a long time. I'm not so big on random kink RP without a bit of substance and soul to it.
Personal questions:
TF has always been an interest for as long as I can remember...
5 – I've had a lot of characters and stories over the years involving characters who transform in various ways. I always kind of found the idea of someone turning into a new, more capable, form a nifty idea.
One of the earliest things that I think put the idea in my head was the Sega Master System game “Wonder Boy 3: The Dragons Trap”, where the entire plot is about your character being cursed by a dragon, and turning into one yourself. As you play through the game, other bosses you kill curse you as well, turning you into other animals. I distinctly remember a dream I had in preschool where I turned into a huge, badass dragon. I guess that's what kept the idea in my head.
I share my TF interest with my real life friends...
2- Here and there, but my RL friends who know this side of me tend to know me for my inflation stuff first.
I wish TF was possible in real life...
3- I guess it'd be neat. I really don't think about it much.
If I could TF into anything in real life, I would and it would be...
2- A version of myself that had more money. :3
If TF was possible and reversible, I'd want to try it regardless of how painful it could ever be...
2- If it was reversible, MAAAYAYBE. Knowing me, I'd change back eventually.
If TF was possible into the form that I've always wanted, but I knew I could never go back, I'd take it...
0- I've never liked the idea of throwing away my entire life like that. Eventually, the novelty would wear off, and I'd just end up wishing for things to be back the way they were. I find getting a tattoo too much of a change, let alone becoming an entirely new creature.
I find TF sexually arousing...
3- Here and there. :3c
I've had TF dreams while sleeping...
5- Every so often!
I daydream about TF when there is downtime...
3 – I like to think of stories and whatnot when I'm off in my thoughts, and it makes for a good story type.
Favorite changes:
I like being the subject of a TF (or my character)...
1/5? - I don't get this question. If by “character”, we mean me playing myself or Ziggy, then no. Ziggy's not really built for that kind of stuff. If I'm RPing a character who I intend to get transformed, than sure!
I like watching someone else undergo a TF (or their character)...
5 – It's always fun to TF someone and watch their reaction. :3
I like animal TF...
3 – It's cute on occasion, but it tends to carry the idea of someone completely losing their humanity, or getting stuck in helpless state, which is kind of scary of an idea to me. It all depends on how it's handled.
I like anthro TF...
5- Human to Anthro is always my favorite. Or anthro to bigger, more primal version of their species. :3
I like gender TF...
0 – Admittedly, the idea's always squicked me a little. I blame having spent years running an RP channel where players got their characters TG'd all the time, just to put them in scenes to get sexually abused. :\
I like inanimate TF...
0 – “I have no mouth, and I must scream.” D:
I like latex/rubber TF...
0 – Meh. I like things warm and fuzzy, not cold and empty.
I like monster TF...
4 – Werewolves are pretty much a big <3 for me. Big ol' growly, howly, drooly beasts. Other monsters are kind of okay, I guess. Not really into the crazy eldritch nightmare looking stuff.
I like cartoon characters TF (MLP, pokemon, etc)...
0/3? – I guess I could fathom some neat transformations into pre-established creatures and races, like pokemon or some cute fuzzy race from some video game or cartoon. As far as turning into actual characters themselves, I don't really get it. Like, “I wanna see a guy turn into Krystal from Star Fox”. That always felt WAY too specific for my tastes.
I like size change...
5 – Along with the fact that I think it should come with the package of turning into something bigger or smaller, I've been finding myself getting more and more into growing and shrinking in general.
I like tail growth...
0 – Huge tails are cute, but I've never been too interested in actual growth
I like bodily covering change (fur, feathers, scales, etc)...
5- Make 'em fuzzeh!
I have a favorite body part TF...
0 – Never knew that was a thing. Guess I haven't been in the deep end of the TF circle that long.
I like other types of changes...
5 – I'm not sure if it counts, but I always thought the idea of someone turning inflatable along with their furry transformation was adorable... Whether they themselves get to control it or not (turning into a furry... and then abruptly blimping :3) Gives them a little extra to do with the new look, or at least adds even more action to the moment.
Favorite triggers:
I like magic-based TF (spells, curse, etc)...
5 – Ironic curses, magical spells designed to enhance someone, good ol' fashioned lycanthropy, it's all pretty fun. :3
I like science-based TF (injection, etc)...
5 – SCIENCE! Genetic experiments, or a laboratory mishap with furry results are pretty rad.
I like goo-based TF...
0 – Not my thing. Maybe falling into some goo and being spat out like the opening to Jak and Daxter, but I don't think that counts.
I like sex-based TF...
0 – To be honest, fetish art always came off as less interesting to me as soon as actual sex got involved. I'm not sure why. I've always just got the thrill out of the situation itself.
I like hypnosis TF...
0 – Nah.
I like other TF methods / don't care how it's started...
3- One idea I've seen around that I thought was really cool was transformations that involve someone “wearing” their new form in some way. Like, painting it onto yourself, or putting on the new form like a costume, and getting all the abilities that come with it.
Favorite process:
I like TF that occurs in less than 5 minutes...
5 – Abrupt changes can be cute. Especially when the person changing ends up not realizing what's happened to them right away, or when they suddenly turn into something a LOT bigger or smaller than them, and it happens in one huge burst that leaves them bewildered. When it's a shapeshifter character who's turning into his alternate form, it's also pretty cool as a way of unleashing his power in a dramatic way.
I like TF that takes much longer...
5 – Likewise, I love a good, slow change where the person changing is forced to watch himself morph uncontrollably. Usually, this is best reserved for a werewolf going through his first change, or someone whose change is more of a punishment or curse that's not going to clear up that quickly
I like when changes take place heterogeneously, or each body part successively...
3 – I like gradual, full body changes AND ones where each body part transforms at a time. The latter feels more cartoonish and cute to me.
I like forced TF...
3 – It always makes for a good reason for a transformation, and helps give the story an antagonist in the form of the person who forced it on them. Usually, though, I prefer it when the person forcing the transformation gets their comeuppance... Preferably in the form of the transformee laying some kind of smack down, or even giving them a taste of their own medicine. The bad guys don't get to win in Ziggy-world, damn it!
I like when the subject is resisting/not enjoying it...
5 – I'm a fan of putting my characters through unpleasant situations. Watching someone panic as they change adds a lot of dramatic tension, and a transformed character being forced to bitterly try and adapt, or going on some kind of adventure to change back is usually pretty interesting to me.
I like consensual TF...
5 – Consensual TF is also fun, though I prefer seeing it on people who can change back and forth. Though then, I tend to get more fun watching the character being in his changed state, rather than the morphing process itself. I guess the idea of someone willingly making a permanent change can be cool too, but I prefer there to be some kind of reason they'd be so willing to make a change like that. Like a soldier undergoing a treatment to turn into some kind of beastial super-soldier or something. A cool transformation scene, and then a lot of running around being a badass.
I like painful TF...
4 – I don't like seeing bones snapping at odd angles and gore spraying everywhere, but someone writhing in pain as they're overcome by a change and some unpleasant sounding pops and cracks add to the dramatic tension. Gives a sense that they're being overtaken by something unnatural. Likewise, a shapeshifter character who's clearly in pain when they're turning into their beastial self, but are managing to keep their composure is also pretty sweet.
I like pleasurable TF...
5 – Usually in the form of a willing shapeshifter getting a kind of “rush” from the process.
I like when the victim loses their human mind...
2 – OKAY! Here's where we finally begin to get into that whole “love/hate” thing I mentioned at the start. The idea of someone losing their human mind completely, to be frank, scares the bajeezus out of me. The idea of losing your very being is a terrifying thought.
That said, I do enjoy some mind alteration in a few ways. I'm a fan of when the victims mind gets a pinch more animal-like to adapt to their new form, but mostly maintaining their original mind. For example, a guy who gets turned into a canine occasionally catches himself growling, or wagging his tail, or feeling the urge to gnaw on a bone, but he's never stopped being Steve from accounting. I also like when a transformed character ends up struggling against a potential personality override. A werewolf who needs to find a balance between duel natures, letting his wolf side out only in ways that will get it out of his system in harmless or helpful ways. When he does let the wolf take over completely, it's in short burst and he needs to know how to reign it right back in. Going too far in either direction would end up with him losing his mind and becoming a mindless beast, so there's always a tiny bit of conflict in him. I find the struggle MUCH more interesting than someone just being completely and permanently un-personed.
I can also dig the concept of a shapeshifter who has an alter-ego that takes control only when he's transformed. Someone who finds himself being taken over by aspects of his personality he usually represses, for example. Like someone who's intelligent, but grouchy finding himself becoming fun-loving and spontaneous, but lacking in common sense when he's in his animal state. It brings out the idea of a character creating a new persona to explore new sides of himself he never knew he had. The original is still in there, and both forms are still guided by the same general beliefs and goals, but he's able to experience the world in a whole new way. This can also lead to the character having adventures where each side of him has to let the other take control for a while, since that side of him can handle a situation better.
I like permanent TF...
4 – Part 2 of my love/hate relationship. Permanent TF is something that I either end up loving, or getting upset by, depending on how it's handled. In general, I prefer TF story endings to sort of end on the tone that the victim will never fully be the same, but can pretty much move on with his life with some adaptation. Some guy turning into a huge tiger, grumbling to himself and going “Ugh. This is going to be hard to explain to the guys at work tomorrow” is hilarious to me. A hero ending up trapped in a new form, and after a bit of time to struggle with the partial loss of humanity, coming right back, beating the bad guy, and remaining a hero in the eyes of the people he cares about feels triumphant.
On the other hand, someone getting turned into a furry, getting a collar slapped on him, and now he's just someones pet is depressing. Someone completely losing their identity, completely aware that they'll never see their friends and family again is a damn tragedy. The idea of turning into a new form is cool to me. The idea of completely losing your old self is what turns me off about a lot of TF material.
...That said, permanent TF that screws over someone who DESERVES being screwed over can be pretty fun. A mad scientist responsible for untold death and destruction ending up the victim of one of his inventions and ending up a furball forever, or someone who willingly defiles something with a lot of powerful magic, and getting punished for it. Those are more extreme cases, though.
I like temporary TF...
5 – I more perfer it when the character has the power to change back and forth. Like a werewolf who switches forms regularly, or someone who can shift into an anthro/animal form. The person can have all the fun of the transformation, without any of the risks.
I like bondage during a TF...
3 – Only if the person transforming gets to dramatically burst out of his bindings as he grows. :3
I like clothes ripping during a TF...
5 – Yeeessss. Someone transforming out of control, outgrowing their clothes, or ripping them apart with their claws. Or someone turning into a smaller creature, and finding themselves shrinking into their outfit. I'm not a fan of hardcore nudity, so enough of their clothes have to survive to keep them decent, or copious use of toon-anatomy is important.
I like sex during/after a TF...
0 – See my notes on sex-based TF.
I like group TF...
2 – It's okay, I guess. Mass panic caused by it is always a way to make it more interesting
I like TF that occurs in front of people...
3 – I like it. Someone transforming in front of others and being confused or embarrassed about it, or trying to get out of the public eye before he changes completely. Or just him changing in front of someone he cares about, only to discover she likes him anyway. :3
Bonus question:
I've withheld my answers/lied about some of them...
0 – I think I've answered these as best as I can, unless I overlooked or forgot to mention something. Why's this even a question? D:
