I had to look twice at #3 to be sure. Showing the back of the hand with the fingeres all spread is a common anime bad-ass gesture, but you can also clearly see the "mounds" of the palm at the bottom of the glove.

It's showing the bottom of the hand in general, there's nothing to indicate it's the top in any way.

I'm guessing you're saying that the back of her hand is facing the viewer, and the palm of her hand is facing her?

If so, I don't think that's true. The way the tips of her fingers are drawn indicates that her fingernails are on the other side, which would mean that the palm of the hand is facing the viewer. Which would mean that the thumb is indeed on the wrong side.

Hmm everything seems in order. The right hand faces back with the bottom of the palm in view with the thumb angled toward the buttock... exactly as it does in real life when positioned that way. The other hand the fingers are all inclined at the proper angle for the left hand as well.

I'm only seeing a perspective mistake.

O_o Put your right arm behind you.. with your palm facing behind you as well... which way does your thumb point... if your thumb points at your ass.... Get to a Doctor quick! Her Left hand is facing on her Right arm....

You're being a bit silly. Put yours arms at your sides with the palms facing back and your thumb faces inside. Then simply move your wrist so your hand is close to a right angle with your arm, then move your arm back from the shoulder only. If your thumb magically jumps sides then either I fail at directions or you've got a marketable talent.

I just don't get what is so difficult about this. The only mistake I'm seeing is a perspective one, likely from looking back at their hand while trying to draw it in the pose I'm suggesting. It is not difficult at all for people to face their hand behind them with the thumb on the inside, we have ulna and radius.

Have, tried it myself multiple times. Each time I come to the same conclusion. The artist looked back at their own hand while drawing it and got the perspective wrong pointing the hand and elbow up instead of down. I wouldn't have even bothered arguing it if I couldn't sit here and easily do it and observe it.


It's hard to stay interested though, the only other people still on the subject have degenerated to baseless name calling.

the problem is.. in the photo the fingers are looking DOWN.
in the image.. the fingers are UPWARDS with the thumb in the same position as yourpic (in short.. impossible )

I never said it was okay. In fact the message you just responded to I said they made a mistake. That's the main thing I don't get about the way people are acting. One of the first things I said was that there was a perspective problem and they're acting like I'm saying there's absolutely nothing wrong with it.

Umm I think you're still not understanding what I'm saying, it has everything to do with perspective. Looking back at your own hand versus looking at it from the angle it's being drawn is a perspective error by the very definition. You gave me proof to what I already said. The hand and elbow are pointing up instead of down... if you look back at your own arm when in the position I'm talking about it can appear that way when in fact they should be pointing down. I can't put it into words any better than that.

My first statement was that I didn't see what was wrong, then I corrected that three minutes later by saying I saw a perspective error. I haven't changed in that this whole time. So I have no idea what you're talking about.

Sorry for standing up for my perspective. I've got three people breathing down my neck about me being wrong and they don't even understand what I'm saying, how should I react? I'm being pretty amiable considering the circumstances. I never even said anyone else was wrong in their perspective of how they view it, but that doesn't automagically make my perception incorrect either.


I see more than one possible problem, which implies more than one possible solution. I chose the one that seems more likely to me and am sticking with it. It is my failing if I can't properly put it into words, but other people's for being nasty about it.


It really has nothing to do with ego and everything to do with standing up for myself, whether other people are even vaguely aware of what I'm talking about or not.

as for errors of fingers, I've had these happen a LOT on my pictures, and once I finished inking had to fix them digitally..

That is one of two ways you can place you hand behind you. There is no doubt about that. That doesn't disprove the example I gave you to do in any way.

So, you can do as the woman does in pic 1 and place your hand behind you as Buttercup does in pic 2 and not adjust your hand in any way? really?.. and you are not on Ripleys?... I just dislike talking to morons.. consider this conversation over..
