If you are visiting Hong Kong for the very first time, I would recommend Victoria Peak as a prime destination. You'd get to see the Victoria Bay and a nice vantage point of the Kowloon area. Secondly, the MTR (Mass Transit Railway) is your most convenient way in getting yourselves around (though you will have to take buses up to the afore mentioned Peak).
