Tumblr Logic, where everything is backwards! How dare you flaunt your Recovery Privilege, there are some people who are addicted to bad things and can't help themselves you cruel ablest! Omg go die I hate healthy people, oppressing me with their reminders that I am not healthy by forcing me to look at their body

A 300 pound woman cries and on the news that the Internet and tumblr which she loves so much is full of skinny women. Skinny women everywhere. In dresses, in movies. Skinny women. She feels oppressed. This isn't fair! How DARE people flaunt healthy bodies in front of me?!

Meanwhile there are photos of huge overweight women almost completely naked with the caption "BIG IS BEAUTIFUL" are all over my tumblr dash and all over the Internet. I'm at a healthy weight, and this slightly confuses me since being very overweight isn't healthy and I don't think it should be advertised. But still. I'm skinny and I'm "privileged", so I can't say anything about it.

If anyone has a privilege, it's actually people that are severely overweight. If you are overweight and excluded from something, you can say "It's because of my weight, isn't it?" and get what you like. If you fail PE because you're overweight you can pull that, too. (true story. This kid weighed over 300 pounds and couldn't do any of the PE requirements, and his family said it is unfair to fail him because the reason he can't do those activities is because he's overweight. That's not really fair to me considering I ran until I felt like I'd vomit every day to get used to running and have a good mile time) If you can't run in PE because you're overweight, you get pittied and still pass while the teacher screams at the "lazy skinny people" to run until they puke (true story). I remember watching the news, and a little four year old had gone up to a friend's mother, and made the remark of, "WOW! You're REALLY big!" and they has a thirty minute thing regarding this "situation" on the news and the way you can't point out that overweight people are overweight.

At least that's how it is in the US.

Either way, no single group should be privileged. We should all be equal and we shouldn't be mean to one another because we're all people dammit and we should not be dicks to one another.

I guess I agree for the most part, but I will say that most overweight people are totally chill about it but it's the small percent that gives everyone else a bad name, BUT it's the small percent that's the loudest.

But like yeah speaking of the small percentage, not even shitting you right now today there was a post I saw saying that Disneyland should hire overweight people to play the princesses in the park, to promote healthy body image to young girls. [Because accuracy to a character is completely unimportant too.] Now I'm all for princesses that are different body types/not perfectly thin, but there is definitely a limit to what a healthy body type is and no amount of bashing scientific studies is going to change that. It's to the point where you can link all the facts and they'll still say "thin people have those issues too!!!1!" even if it's things that are directly caused by obesity.
I found a thin privilege blog while randomly wandering tumblr that actually compared "fat-phobia" to racism/homophobia and all that. Because weight is totally an uncontrollable factor and it's ok to compare those things to each other ??
