I continue to feel sad until a different mood swing arrives. I tend to procrastinate and nap more, but that's symptomatic rather than a solution.

Sounds similar to me, it's not an easy state of mind to try and tackle. At the risk of sounding like a purveyor of fine understatements...

It's a bloody nuisance.

It is perhaps a mistake to think there is some activity which resolves the feeling. 'Maturing brain has decided to dump a load of moody chemicals whilst it does its updates.'

True I suppose, though it's a very uncomfortable thought. My brain has taken it upon itself to commandeer my motivation, drive and emotions in such a way that it makes it impossible to get them back until it's done. If my brain were a person and did that, I'd probably thump them. :P
