Injustice Online: Stop Bitching about Deathstroke

Test Your Might posted these videos today and I would really like it if people help to spread them. Get people informed and get them to stop complaining.
I haven't even gone online yet and I've heard the complaining about Deathstroke. Even when just messing around with him I knew he was going to be the newbie's character of choice thanks to how easy it is to spam his guns and and get results against other new players but I never guessed people would react the way they did. There's been complaints that he's too strong or he's the best character in the game and, in the worst cases, people actually asking him to be nerfed. That's just silly.
The game has been out for a week. One week. It is way, way too early for anybody to be suggesting any balance changes in this game right now let alone be justified in their claims. The meta-game hasn't developed yet. People asking for nerfs are just being lazy and would rather complain than learn. But you know what? Rather than put those people down I think it's best they simply be taught so they can improve and enjoy the game on a higher level.
The game is seven days old. Rather than cry for balance tweaks why not spread a little knowledge instead? The last thing this game needs is some knee-jerk balance patch so early in its lifespan. That already happened in Mortal Kombat 9 and the results were messy.

RIP Sentinel ;_____;
I've only dabbled in the game, and....I admit, I can see WHY the complaints are there for Deathstroke. I never just like to hop on the "nerd rage" fence unless I have a reason to. I don't think he's broken, far from it, but from the one match I have played against a Deathstroke player, where I was immediately and mercilessly crushed, I immediately could see where the hatred was coming from, both in his zoning options and his rush tactics. Granted, I am still VERY much new, but I had much better luck with the next few matches I played against other opponents, over the one match I played against Deathstroke.
Does that mean that he SHOULD be nerfed? No. Not yet, anyway. If this is a problem that arises several months from now where the majority of Deathstroke players are dominating any match they play, then sure, but only a couple of weeks into it?
I don't think calling people who agree Deathstroke is overpowered stupid or idiotic is the right approach for their frustrations, since that just makes said frustration worse (not implying that's what you are doing, but that's the vibe I get from others when attacking the complaints), but I think we will see shifts in how the game is played as people learn more about the game...so long as we aren't also throwing "...and that's how you beat him, idiot" at the end of the sentence.
I think we are seeing two things happen here. The first is that Deathstroke has a large amount of First-Order-Optimal, or FOO, strategies, where someone finds an easy to perform technique (Deathstroke's Guns and spin jump strike, for example) that does a large amount of damage for little effort, and just uses that technique to succeed, without realizing there are other options for the character. For newbies, it's a great character to learn the basics, and give them a fighting edge against someone who has been playing since launch with another character, like Batman or Solomon Grundy. This will actually handicap those players if they continue to rely on it and don't develop other strategies though, since they'll either get bored of just shooting everything with guns, or they'll run into a much better group of players, get stomped, and then get frustrated that the game is "too hard" or "just not that much fun anymore"; a problem they can avoid if they learn Deathstroke has more than 2 moves. This also can fall on the developer for not doing a better job of introducing more effective strategies for Deathstroke, but that's not an argument I'll get into at the moment.
The second may be a case of Perfect Imbalance, where Deathstroke may have been given more zoning or rush options in an effort to encourage players to find counter-strategies to take down whatever Deathstroke throws. The plus side is that it encourages new strategies for characters perceived to be lower tier (and I never like bringing up tiers ever, I think they're silly, period) to defeat stronger opponents. The problem, of course, is that it can also result in counter-strategies to be the ONLY way to play, where everyone now plays the character that can take down Deathstroke instead, and has a series of strategies that can beat everyone else too...which will start the circle of complaints and requests for nerf patches all over again.
The issue with a nerf patch is that would eliminate both of these issues. For the former, it would be a possible benefit to learn new strategies, or could kill any potential Deathstroke has for expert play. For the latter, however, all it will do is create a new imbalance in some other fashion. No one will be happy with it, even if they don't realize it yet.
Now, of course, as I mentioned, all of this will mean nothing if Deathstroke gets patched 3 months down the line because he is just that dominant. In that case, then yeah, maybe the complaints were legitimate. But we haven't gotten to that point YET, so it is a little early to be whining about it.
I just like playing devil's advocate, though. I can SEE why the whining is taking place, even if it doesn't make sense.
I could also just sum it up and say the FGC is just whiny in general and will never be happy no matter what game devs do, but that would be a gross generalization. ;)
