Pixar's BRAVE

General
Just a quick note to say WOW- as mentioned I had a screening of BRAVE scheduled and it is ASTOUNDING. Beautiful backdrops and gorgeous expressions, action sequences animated with all the passion and force we've come to expect from Pixar. That's where the similarities to prior Pixar films ends though- it's VERY Disney-esque, although dark and contained within are quite a number of adult themes. It's uncannily similar to BROTHER BEAR which I thought was an amazing film- however this one is a masterpiece by comparison.
Anyway- go see it! I didn't see the 3D version as it wasn't quite ready, but I imagine it will be very stunning.
Also- saw MADAGASCAR 3 last week- the 3D in that film is astonishing, and the film was fun- very much like the first 2 except *slightly* sillier and with a touch more adult humour. Thoroughly enjoyed it. If you hated the first 2 films, don't bother! :P
That's it from me- TED & THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN next week- will let you know. ^^

So, lazy me could go look it up, but care to give me a brief synopsis of Brave?
IN THE PORN DUNGEONS OF A SCOTTISH CASTLE, WHERE BOTH HUMAN AND ALIEN ALIKE WERE WELCOME TO VISIT, AND OFTEN DID SO ON REGULAR.... Oh wait no- wrong film! D:
Basically, free-spirited ginger chick with way too much hair and not a very accurate representation of how freckly a ginger kid is (one freckle per stolen soul), living in medieval Scotland- she's a princess and needs to choose a suitor from surrounding clans, she doesn't want to and rebels causing war over broken tradition/pacts among the clan. She runs away with her incredibly attractive clydesdale and follows crazy little spirit things in the forest, finds a witch, stubbornly demands a spell then goes back home to "change her mother's mind" with the spell, of course it doesn't happen as she plans and bad things ensue. The story is all interwoven with old Scottish legends which she then has to try and decipher to undo bad shit, sexy male bear/demon thing, and that's pretty much it! It's quite short compared to other Pixar films (90 minutes + short film La Luna which is really sweet), and thus the story isn't as deep- pretty amazing though.
Much comedy ensues, plus lots of other emotions as you'd expect from Pixar- it's pretty incredible to look at and sound design, etc is amazing. Can't say it enough- GORGEOUS.
Awwww dammit Mr. Wolfmonkey, don't TEASE me like that! I'd buy out an entire theatre for the pleasure of sitting down to watch a film about sexy humans and aliens getting it onnnnnn
Okay, I'm sold on Brave - will see if I can drag Pete along to it sometime when it comes out. What are your thoughts on Prometheus? Is that an Event or Village score?
Haven't actually seen Prometheus as I was in Queenstown at the time of the screening- I'm thinking you should check it out in DBOX though at Hoyts, in which case wait for me and we can go after dinner when I come down (figure I'll wait a couple weeks for Pete to come back, so let me know when that is and I'll give you advance notice!). Otherwise if ya can't wait- let me know and I'll hook you up at Chartwell.
Let me know if you want to come hang one night after work or next Saturday if you think you'll get too lonely with Pete away- I'LL BE THERE FOR YOU BUDDY!
We can wait for you to grace us with your royal presence until we see Prometheus, I am sure. Pete will be back on Monday week, so the weekend following that (23/24th) would work out well if you were free then? Coupled with that, it's Pete's birthday on the 23rd so a good excuse for us all to go out for dinner and a movie to celebrate.
Funny you should mention next Saturday actually, I was planning to head up to Dorkland to check out some archery supply shops, so if you were around and at a loose end it would be great to go hang if you're keen? You're a lovely, top bloke, Mr. Wolfmonkey - thank you
