Why am I giggling at this? XD I figured Wesker and Friends would still be destroying things, so Zero being top is kind of a surprise, but nice to see.

Wesker is still up there, no doubt about it, but the level of bullshit he's capable of compares to what Zero can do.

Well damn, I gotta check that out. Didn't keep up with UMvC cause, well, I don't own the game. *shrug* Only recent news I heard about it was that the costume glitch got fixed, the glitch itself I found hilarious.

Despite Capcom's horrible handling of this game in all marketing regards, the game is hella fun. I'm playing it more than any other fighter right now (barely beating out Blazblue CSEX). The game is balanced fairly well in a pretty funny way. Everybody has stupid shit so everybody can be competitive. XD

It's turned out to be a very top heavy tier list. but even so there's still a general consensus on who the top 5 or 10or so are. You see a lot of the same names and Zero pops up every time because, to be frank, he's beastly.

Makes sense there. I've been playin CSEX a hell of a lot more because I'm a lazy dummy that never did it in CS2. :v been considering picking up UMvC used if I could find a copy at a gamestop or something, but they rarely do.

It's unlikely you will. For some reason it seems like Ultimate had a rather small run. I don't see many new copies and next to no used ones. On ebay the used ones go almost as much as new.

Well, back to Regular MvC I go for now XD. And I've been using Tager and Lambda since CS and I recently picked up Platnium. Not all that good (least to me :v ) since I use a dualshock controller. It's been a mix of practicing and getting throuh the arcades, stories and challenges.

I used Hakumen is CT, moved to Hazama in CS and now maining Relius with Hazama as my sub. X3

I knew you'd be using Relius. :D Barely do I see him used as a main so that's a good thing. I occasionally use him to annoy people, haven't really dug my feet in with him as much as I wanted to. And huh, I would've thought you would have used Bang or Valk. ^.=.^

Relius reminds me of JoJo but I can see why not many would use him. He requires meter management to an extreme degree and his playstyle is very stop and go. Even then his mix-ups seem lackluster. Even so his damage is monstrous and he has some excellent tools at his disposal.

I don't like the way Bang plays and Valk is too technical for me. What made you think I'd use them? X3

I dunno, maybe on character rather then playstyle. XD I'm one of the people that pick a person on character (if any) and their playstyle which is why I use certain people. Tager, Lambda and Plat just clicked with me. Been like that for some time. I plan on doing that with Persona 4 Arena too since theres a lot of character love going on.

Now I do with the obvious point out XD. In any case, I'd love to take you up for a match if we can be greedy enough with the connection and when you've got the time of course.

Man these were kinda funny, I'm giggling like an idiot over here. Zero is pretty much up there too, though...Wesker...ugh...everytime I see him on a team...I facepalm because of the hell I'll probably go through.

Wesker is a pain because he's so simple to use and do well with. Still, there are worse, you just don't see them used online nearly as often.

You mean like that devilish raccoon? Watched one Youtube video containing a few matches and he was one of the few characters that popped up...the guy controlling him, tore the other team a new hole...it was frightening.

Also random thought, since you and Zero technically share the same name...does that mean your top tier too?

I know a player named Kusoru tore people up at a recent tourney with Rocket Raccoon but I think that's maybe a bit more attributable to a lack of match-up knowledge. Not many people use RR so exposure to what the character can do is lacking. He can be trick though and log trap is a really annoying assist.

And no, I'm not top tier. Not by a long shot. In all likelihood I'm Roll tier. XD

So basically the saying, what you don't know, can't hurt you changes to, what you don't know, will hurt you.

And what's so bad about Roll tier, in Battle Network she was a huge asset in keeping my Mega-Busting butt alive, mainly because I'm hasty and run into attacks with out meaning to.

Knowledge of a fight helps a lot. If you fight against a character a lot you become more familiar with what they can do and how to deal with them. The exact opposite is true which is how RR can be a surprise.

As practical as these lists may be, I was never one to really "believe" in tiers. I firmly believe that a player can overturn any battle with enough effort and skill, as long as the characters are balanced properly.

But then again, there's a reason I don't participate in tournaments much. If at all. Hahahaha.

Tiers exist, no question about it. Even so there's a notion that they're the end all, be all which simply isn't the case. Skill will almost always trump tier placement. However not all characters are equal in fighters and tiers simply exist to show who has the best tools to fight overall.

The example I always use is this. Imagine you needed to cut down a tree and could choose between an axe and a chainsaw. While a really strong guy can do really well with the axe there's no question the chainsaw is better and you're likely to get better results with it.

Kind of a dumb metaphor but whatever. XD

I guess I'm a bit vehement in my beliefs because it always seems the "big guys" in fighters always get the short end of the stick, of which I love playing the most. And its frustrating when you want to prove that skill is the ultimate decider, but lack the skill to best someone with a "better tool", as you illustrated. *Chuckles*

Perhaps its time to turn that frustration into a SKILL MONTAGE. *Hops on SF4 for 2 hours*

I have some friends that play this, and claim Zero is BY FAR the best character in the game.

He's not as overpowering as in TvC but he's damn good that's for sure. Best a character can hope for is to be able to have a 5-5 match-up against him in my opinion.

I've seen quite a few vids where Zero just single-handedly wipes out an entire team by himself, pretty much making him his own team. XD Same with Wesker though, I think it's cause they both have a really simple OTG that's really effective plus their juggling ability. Though, I'll never burn the pain of Team Trenchcoat from my mind. D: I've been running Dormmamu, Doom, and Nemesis and it's been effective so far, but once they get up close to me, I'm pretty screwed unless I can BnB Doom on them but it's been a bit back and forth for me. lol
