About My Little Pony

Okay, first a little back story. Up until a few weeks ago I was utterly indifferent to this internet phenomenon and largely ignorant of the "Brony" community. That changed when I heard John de Lancie, an actor perhaps best known as playing Q on Star Trek: The Next Generation, was playing a similar antagonistic character in My Little Pony. Now, I thought Q was great and I was eager to see de Lancie do his thing again. To my surprise I actually found the show alright. Kind of clever even. I was hooked. Oddly my love of Star Trek is what got me watching a show geared towards little girls. Go figure.
Anyway, I've essentially watched the whole show. Call me a Brony if you will but after the sampling I got from that one episode I was curious to see more and after watching the whole thing I have to say I like it. It's actually a rather cleverly written show with well defined and likable characters. That alone makes it better than most of the Flash animated garbage out there such as Johnny Test.
After seeing it all I honestly have to say I'm completely baffled by how galvanizing this show is, particularly the vitriol some people have for it. Every form of entertainment has is noisy fans but I'm hard pressed to think of anything recently that people have made such a fuss about. Maybe Twilight but that kind of deserves it doesn't it? Seriously though, I can understand if it's not your thing or you're not interested but what about this program inspires such roaring hatred. Just look at the knee-jerk reaction from the Pony banner not long ago. What causes this?
This is a legitimate question. I suspect I may just be ignorant to the community since I'm both new and and a rather passive MLP viewer. I genuinely want to know if there is a reason for this other than it just being trendy.

FA+

and partially the fact that some of the fans go Beyond Brony, and they start acting like MLP versions of Trekkies... finding lore and stuff that isnt there. When there is absolutely nothing deeper to the show than the blatant moral messages they give every episode. Those people kinda ruin it for everyone :P
and is doing it again right now
I used to be indifferent toward it but wondered how so many people could like a show like that, but then I watched an episode and decided it was pretty good, and definatly better than most of the junk that plays on a channel like cartoon network.
Now that I've watched mlp and then watched some other cartoons I used to like, I wonder how I used to like such awful cartoons.
One show in particular that I can figure out how I ever used to like it is Ed Edd and Eddy. I tried to go on a marathon session watching 8 or so hours of it straight, and I just couldn't stand it anymore two hours in. Usually when I go on a marathon session like that with other shows I have to force myself to stop.
The thing that stands out the most for me is the characters, it's the first time I've seen characters actually developed, and not just drones to the plot of the show. You can actually profile the characters as if they are living beings, people have done it.
Also, I knew Twilight Sparkle had OCD, and an intense fear of failure. I did not expect them to actually have a plot involving it pushing her to a psychotic episode >.=.<
But I totally agree. Rather than rely on lame jokes and stale gags the show has a very likable and well rounded cast. It's characters that make any story and the characters here are good.
I'm like you, I wasn't even all that into MLP until the banner fiascos made me give it another try. I'm still catching up, but I'm pleasantly surprised by the quality. ~:3
I watched only the ads and idk why did i ran into this TV show. :o
Then it got cancel or something, appeared again in Cartoon Network and now it has new shows.
Do you think Johnny Test is better than My Little Pony?
And... if I had to describe the show the way I see, it would be like someone added a little too much sugar to a cake or something...
However, I'm not sure why people hate it so much. Maybe it's because they think guys who like a show meant for little girls makes them gay or whatever. Or maybe it's the abundance of furry porn or something like that. Or another factor could be the negative vibe "furry" related stuff has socially.
lol you could probably write a book on it :B
reminds me of these two chicks in my watercolor class that would just sit there the whole 3 hour period talking about Harry Potter and how cool it would be to get the letter and go to Hogwarts. So annoying xD but only because they weren't doing what they were suppose to be doing haha.
