General
I decided to take a look at my expenses as a function of time, divided into one-day increments. What does it cost for me and my wife to live for a day?
$41.50 for rent (incl. heat)
$18.70 for food
$4.10 for air travel
$4.00 for insurance
$3.40 for electricity
$2.00 for gasoline
$1.80 for computers
$1.60 for gifts
$1.20 for games and game systems
$1.10 for internet access
$0.80 for clothing
$0.70 for water
$0.60 for furniture
$0.60 for health care
$0.50 for sex
$0.40 for laundry
$0.20 for sports
That comes out to $83.20 a day, or $41.60 per person. Rent is 50% of my total expenses... which seems kind of high. Of course, this is a very expensive part of the country! Why don't you guys give it a shot, precise or rough as you like? I'm really curious how expensive things are for you.
If you want to include student loan and 457 payments, those total $65.40 daily, for a grand total of $148.60. Yowch.
