By not reading my header...
New FA banner is kinda FUCKING LAME
FA+

I think that it is a bit topical but its no less frisky and fun. Plus it has attractive colours, and for goodness sake its a cute fender poptart blasting off into space! I mean that the most epic thing I can think of.
The point is that the effort to high five someone else opinion or to write up your own similar opinion are gratifying to the reader and yourself. Just saying something arbitrary as "SAME AS ABOVE" to an opinion kind of makes your opinion almost an inferior carbon copy. Its not that you can't be correct in hating the banner. I just felt that you could not produce your own opinion.
With that said: http://z0r.de/1023
Although the statistic raises to about !% from other sources. (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2274343/)
So lets go with 1% for a nice round number.
According to the CIA World Factbook there are around 6.8 billion people living on the world as of July 2009. That number will increase by about 212,035 every day. (http://wiki.answers.com/Q/How_many_people_live_on_Earth)
So lets fast forward to the year 2011. Ignoring the leap year there are 365 days in the year.
212,035 new people a day X 365 = 7421225 new people a year. 2 years (rounded) have passed since the statistic and when added to the grand total it becomes:
6814842450 people living on the earth of which 1% are epileptic so that's 6814842.45 people around the world who are epileptic. Furthermore, of that group only 5% are photosensitive (http://www.epilepsysociety.org.uk/NewGetInvolved/Awarenessraising/EpilepsyReview/Photosensitiveepilepsyfeature)
According to the internet (not the best source) there are too many furries. Not exactly a computable number. I decided to take the amount of accounts on furaffinity as the number of furries in existence. I rate that the extra accounts created should equalize with the furries that don't bother to join FA.
There are 54000 furries on furaffinity during 2008 (http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/2088935/) and probably many more currently. I don't want to speculate but this entire mathematical sum is quite inspecific. So I got another statistic from the furry survey (http://www.klisoura.com/ot_furrysurvey.php) of about 9024 furries in 2010 (http://www.klisoura.com/ot_furrysurvey2009.php)
Now the harder part: The reasoning. You can safely say that epilepsy will be a major problem if all the people in the world who were epileptic stared at it. The problem is that only 1.3 X10^-36 persons of the world are furry (full number is 1.3241685433241380363826312668461e-6) which is a tiny number and then logically 1% of them will be epileptic, and a further 5% of that number will be effected.
.
In English (using the rule of thumb, 1 in every 200 has epilepsy) would mean the grand total of furries that statistically have epilepsy is 54.12 (55 furries). Un-statistically we do know that this number will be higher or even lower due to the TYPE of personalities that are usually furry. Then we have to take 5% of those 54.12 persons to get to 2.256. 3 persons.
In essence, your point about epilepsy is so completely insignificant that there is more of a chance of seeing God then having that problem.
Also epilepsy caused by photo-sensitivity is less prone on LCD screens as they flicker too fast for the eye to catch. "Flashing lights between the frequencies of 10 and 30 flashes per second (hertz), are most likely to trigger a seizure in over 60% of the photosensitive population" The banner moves at 8 images(flashes) per second.
So in terms of "health and safety", the furaffinity banner applies completely.
