What’s the point of all this crap? To illustrate the very simple fact that as long as you exist and especially if you are on the internet, there WILL be drama. Cope. It only ever lasts as long as you feed it. Take it in stride. It can’t really hurt you. There are worse things. Don’t have a meltdown. If you must have a meltdown, don’t do it on the internet; trolls WILL make it worse. A single fucktard can become an avalanche in mere minutes. Walk away. Come back later. Or don’t come back at all. Your emotional wellbeing is more important than crap on the internet.
FACT: No matter how well intentioned your actions are, at least a few assholes WILL misconstrue them as some hideous malfeasance.
FACT: If you reveal anything about your personality through opinions, journals, and rants, people WILL judge you based on it. Way too many people are stupid enough to think they can know someone entirely based on a few internet posts. For example: Did you know that I do not in fact eat kittens and converse with Satan? IT’S ALL A LIE!
FACT: Not everybody is logical and there is absolutely no point in arguing with them. These are usually the same people who will not admit they are wrong, ever, under any circumstances, even if you are basting them in the face with proof and evidence. Give up. Go home. You don’t need to win everything. Life is not always about winning, sometimes it’s about maintaining your goddamned sanity.
FACT: If you stop coming here, or to any online community for that matter, your life will not change dramatically. In fact, it might get better.
FACT: It is unhealthy and detrimental to derive your self-worth from the opinions of others. DO NOT DO IT because if their opinion drops, your self-worth goes with it. Define your own worth.
FACT: Some people out there will dislike you for no fucking reason at all.
FACT: Some people out there will dislike you for legitimate reasons. You can't please everyone and you can't make everyone like you. COPE.
FACT: If you start getting trollvalanched, don’t take down your art; you’ll only be punishing those who appreciated it. Even if you intend to leave for good, leave your art up.
FACT: Veggie burgers? HELL NO, BACON!
FACT: Some critiquers genuinely want to help you get better. Be gracious and thankful towards them.
FACT: Some critiquers are just trying to take you down a peg and embarrass you. If you like being abused, be gracious and thankful towards them. If you don't, block, hide comment, forget they exist.
FACT: Someone WILL write a BBAWWW or hate journal about you eventually, if you are big enough. They will lie and paint themselves to look like the oh so terribly wronged and aggrieved party. As long as they don't call you out by name, there is nothing you can do. It sucks. COPE.
FACT: One quick way to avoid drama: Stop giving a shit. Don't even give a fart if you can help it.
FACT: Some people will complain about ANYTHING. Don't countercomplain. Answer however you see fit or don't answer at all but don't countercomplain because then it will become a complaining-competition which inevitably leads to drama.
FACT: Whiteknighting can often lead to more drama. It can be very tempting, especially when someone you care about is getting trounced. The better thing to do is try extracting your friend from the fray.
FACT: Fastest way to start drama: Overreacting. Don't do it. If someone leaves a stupid comment to you somewhere and you can feel the brain-boilers firing up, cool down, step away, come back to it later. Or leave it alone. But don't overreact.
FACT: Not everybody out there in internets land knows how to take a joke. Also, sarcasm can be really easy to misinterpret or miss altogether.
FACT: The trick isn't avoiding drama because it cannot always be so easily avoided, especially if you are big in the fandom. The trick is handling it sensibly and maturely.... like this: *FFFAAARRRTTTTT
ROFLMAO and so be it!
