first off, sorry bout the gender confusion. your icon threw me. secondly (rant time): asuming that we are just refering to spelling at this time, i will contend that it dose not matter in this case. if you would gauge someones intelegence directly by their spelling ability im not sure how sound your methods are. "ability to form a sentence" is not afected whatsoever by spelling ability as sentences are of speech and are then translated into text. as i stated earlyer as long as the meaning is the same things like that dont matter, thus it is asumed that the opinion IS understandable and hopefully intelligent, if not then it actualy becomes a problem. as to people submiting stories and poetry to this site; i guess beautey lies in the eye of the beholder and if their work is any less valueable to you because they misspelled some words i doubt they care about your opinion anyway. and finaly why the heck is everyone making such a big deal of this????!!!!!

It's spelled "intelligence". That alone gauges YOUR intelligence. There's also a thing called an apostrophe. Your ability to form a sentence in written word directly reflects how you'd say that sentence. The meaning DOES actually change. Just like the sentence of "I watched my uncle, Jack, on a horse." But if you don't separate the word with a comment it becomes... "i watched my uncle jack on a horse". So is he.. jacking off on a horse, or is his name Jack..?

next time you use word you might notice a little thing called spellcheck. it tends to get used on anything that matters. you might also notice that i dont have much in the way of storys on here. this is because im sick and tired of people (mostly teachers) telling me that i could be a great writer if i would just fix my grammar punctuation and spelling. the thing is, i dont give one wit about the opinion of people that belive that things like that can change somethings quality, 80% of communication is in things other than actual wording, and most of that is lost in text. actions speak much louder than words because their meanings are obvious and cant be picked apart like you just did above. thats why i have switched to sign language over speech when i can. there are no spelling errors and the grammar is relatively simple.

I do use spell check, which is spaced. Not how you spelled it, heh. My spell check is built into my text areas. If it doesn't catch everything, certainly not grammar mistakes, but if it's a word it usually registers it as such. Not sure why you of all people are telling me this. XD; Plus I do correct myself when I spot things. Feel free to point out my mistakes! I'm not ignorant, my girlfriend improves my spelling all the time. I welcome corrections. :)

As for used on what "matters", well, many web browsers now automatically put a spell check into the browser that has to be manually turned off. Because they know it matters. ;)

You certainly DO give a 'wit' about people's opinions! Look at you bitch about your teachers and go on and on to me. Even though you don't care, supposedly.

You can still write properly but use it to convey a certain emotions. I mean I use words like "gonna" and "wanna" which are not actual words to say "going to" and "want to" because that's how I actually say the words. See? Direct reflection! Not to mention I am constantly writing dialogue for my characters with various accents. Most notably my Scouts, Medics, and Spies. The Scouts say "da" instead of "the" to show through writing exactly how they're pronouncing the word. The Medic "vill saw through your bones!". And well the Spies are, um, French. So I use certain emphasis in their words. Plus you CAN USE CAPS TO SHOW YOU ARE YELLING!! Or streeeeeeeeeeeeetch a word to show how long you said it. But when you write something without any regards to spelling and grammar to the point that it has several different possible meanings, or just plain can't be understood, you drastically fall in your ability to communicate.

Actions speak louder than words but are we in person here? Does that make literature a lesser art form to movies? No. Because literature shows a totally different thing. The root of emotions. The part that can be described. That can't be viewed entirely.

Sign language has letters...that would lead to a spelling error. My name is 'Rebecca' but someone could sign my name as a variety of varients on the name such as 'Rebekah' or 'Rebeca'. Plus MOST people spell my name 'Rebbeca'. See? they could still get it wrong in that language.

imma tackle these out of order cause the sign language one is easy. fingerspelling is almost exclusively used for names WHICH WOULD BE ONE OF THE IMPORTANT TIMES WHEN IT ACTUALY MATTERS.
