How about finding middle ground? I don't think anyone said what they said for you to feel bad or the such. But your words before did have hidden meanings. I am doubtful you've meant them, but if that's the reason why you deleted the journal, I don't think there was any need.

I doubt anyone expects you to do 100 trades. No one's calling you arrogant for only choosing 3 trades to do out of the bunch. However, the last journal you had up had made a comment about the "novice art" which is what made people feel self conscious. Not the fact that you'll only choose three people. The way it was worded, in a way, it sounded that if you're not a novice artist, and on the watch list you'll have a higher chance.

It has nothing to do with only choosing 3. But much choosing how you said your words. The "novice artist" comment is what people feel self-conscious and feel that they weren't up to par with what they thought would be your standards.

Again, no one is expecting you to do 100 trades, or thought what you said was rude because you only wanted to choose 3 artists to work with. But much rather that "novice artist" comment. And the high probability of choosing someone you watch over someone you don't comment. I'd quote it a bit better if I had the original journal anymore since it's been removed.

Admittedly, I can understand why you sound so offended, but at the same time I don't. If it was a misunderstanding of what you had originally said, perhaps you could have clarified it to the individual artists that pointed it out. It wasn't meant to offend you or make you feel self-conscious of what you said. It's just the way others interpreted what you've said.

Oddly I don't offend easily. I didn't comment because I got offended or felt insecure. Although I still am rather curious of what others have interpreted of my words.

Though I do like to play devil's advocate and get people to see both sides of an argument. I don't do it to offend, I do it in hopes that others can see the other side of an argument. Whether they learn from it or not is not up to me but rather how the other person is open to interpretation. Even so, from the beginning I told you I pretty much agreed with what you said and told you I'd play devil's advocate in hopes that you understand where others are coming from because those few people seemed genuinely disappointed.

I figured as such that English wasn't your native tongue. Regardless of knowing that you're still going to be a victim of misunderstandings. Possibly more than others. So try not to get too upset, or too offended. Life's too short for you to spend it mad/sad/upset. I know you want to have fun and I assume that's what doing Trades are for. No one's trying to make you feel bad for having them really. Your trade, your choices. I suppose I was just voicing a different interpretation for those who were offended with the way it was worded and in turn felt self-conscious about their work.

I know English isn't your native tongue, but what helped me learn English when I was younger was by reading it out loud to myself and to someone else (who did know English) and they would tell me how it sound. A proofreader of sorts I suppose. It still amazes me the meanings words can have when put together in a certain way, something that is an innocent saying can turn out to be something that sounds offensive to others.

While I admit that trades with an artist would be nice to do, I think that most are talking about drawings more than writings. It would be nice, though, if I could offer up my writing in such trades.

When someone says they're "playing devil's advocate",they generally mean they aren't saying you're wrong,they're just bringing up another point of view on a subject. They're not saying you're wrong or you shouldn't do it. So when you see "playing devil's advocate",they're just making conversation or talking about a point they feel deserves consideration.

And for god's sake,don't stop yourself from doing something fun just cause someone has a problem with it.

Admittedly, I didn't really mean any harm by playing the advocate. I was just hoping to bring a different point of view as you said. I don't wish to discourage him from doing what he thinks is fun or deter him from his fun, but I was just hoping to bring in some insight of another opinion. Though I'm glad for your comment and I hope it clarifies a bit. I do have a bit of a problem getting my thoughts out properly at times.

I'm gonna be blunt here, people are gonna get offended if they are not picked for the trade, but a lot of people watch bbmbbf and look up to him cause he has really good skills and would love to get a drawing from him.

He wants to trade art for art, he is gonna pour his skill into a drawing in return for hoping that he will trade with another artist of his caliber so he can get something good in return.

Bottom line, some people just are not that great yet, it takes a long time to get good at art, it's a skill that needs to be worked on, then there is also taste, what if you don't draw in a style he likes?

I've been drawing for around 27 years, I've known bbmbbf for a long time, he is a great artist and it's not fair to think that he might be big-headed for wanting to do a fair art trade, so people don't get mad at him please, he is a great guy =3

Sheesh, I just started watching you and I already feel so bad for you guy D: Even your avvie looks kinda sad T___T Anyhoo, my two cents for this is maybe not to advertise that you are open for art trades...it's just gonna cause all these immature artist types to swarm you and cause a hassle. Best to let just friendly trades come as they may, and that way if they are no good, you can politely inform them you only trade between friends or something of that nature. IDK, I hope you feel better ^^ *hugs*
