I've developed a close online friendship in recent years with someone stuck in an oppressive, religious family even though he's in his 30s. WIth my impending move, I expect to have another bedroom and would really like to offer it to him, but of course I've experienced online friendships that haven't translated well to RL, so I'd like to find a way to temporarily meet up with him and I think a furry con might not be a bad venue.

I don't really do cons, as I'm stressed out by crowds and noise (guess that's agoraphobia?), but I'd do it for this, but not being on the con scene, I don't even know what's available ... does anyone know any smaller, quieter furry cons happening sometime by the end of this year?
