SketchA sketch is usually the initial phase of a drawing with minimal cleanup and no attention to line weight. I will go back over the sketch lines and erase anything unnecessary to clean it up a little bit, but otherwise, the extra additional care you might get for something lined just isn't done at this stage. This will also be uncolored, but I can make the lines themselves any color you want for free. No shading is applied at this stage either. |

LinedLineart is done after the general idea for the artwork is completed. This usually includes meticulously going over the sketch with a more refined brush and paying attention to details such as how much lineweight a particular area should have. Lineart feels "cleaner" than a sketch. The lineart can be any color you choose, but the image won't be colored in. This is also usually the stage where I notice and fix small issues with anatomy and pose, so this is also a more "refined" stage in the process. |

Flats"Flats" is another word to describe an image that is colored in, but not shaded. Without shading, this is a "flat" art piece. I will usually request to have a reference that is not too stylized so that I know what colors to be using. I typically use a color specifically picked from a reference image, unless specified otherwise. Lineart can still be colored however you request. |

Cel-ShadedCel-shading is a term used for shading with hard edges and usually 1 to 2 differences in shade. Usually, this is a very simple shading process, just one shade, and maybe one highlight color, usually the color of the lightsource. When trying to create a mood, it can help to let me know the direction of the light source, or just the overall mood you want to see, so keep this in mind when making your request! |
