Commission

FAQ

Hi guys, big news! I'm planning on transitioning from my current job (graphic design) to being a part-time freelance illustrator, along with studying illustration and tutoring on the side. That means I'll be able to be more active here, and post more artwork!

I understand it'll take time to build up interest, but I'm currently looking for up to four commission slots to get started. This is the start of a big adventure for me. It won't be easy, but I'm really excited!

I've provided a FAQ in my commission info (which I've reposted below) that hopefully should cover any complications that might occur during the commission process. Why write such an extensive FAQ when I've just started? For me, this is as much a process of learning to be a better professional as it is to be a better artist. I'm going to hold myself to a very high standard, so that I can produce great work for you guys.

Thanks to everyone who has stopped by during these first steps.

Q: Do you take commissions?
A: Yes!

Q: What will you draw?
A: Outside of the things listed in the following question, I’m open to drawing anything. Feel free to get in touch, and we can discuss your idea. In terms of adult artwork, I prefer to draw soft vore, inflation, pregnancy, and fat furs (any gender, but preferably with low explicit sexual content), but again I'm open anything so long as it's not covered by the following question. I don't judge my clients, and I respect their privacy rights. I will never divulge the contents of any commission discussion publicly.

Q: What will you NOT draw?
A: I won't draw underage furs, gore, rape, scat, vomit, or gas. Topics, such as urine, or milder non-consent are not off limits but will have to be discussed carefully first. I don't judge my clients, and I respect their privacy rights. I will never divulge the contents of any commission discussion publicly.

Q: How much do you charge?
A: Because I’m new, all commissions will be considered on a case-by-case basis, but this will definitely change in the future, once I'm more comfortable with the process. For now a simple, black and white sketch may start as low as $20 USD, while simple flat colour images may start as low as $25 USD, though these prices may be subject to increase. Once a price has been agreed upon, it is no longer negotiable.

Q: When do you expect payment?
A: For now, commissions up to $30 USD must be paid up front. For larger commissions, different terms are possible, but will need to be negotiated. I won't begin working on your commission until all agreed payments have been received.

Q: How do you accept payment?
A: I accept payments via stripe. When it's time for payment, I'll send you an invoice via email, which will have a form for you to submit payment. If you have any concerns, please discuss them with me before the commission process begins. I respect my client's right to privacy, and try to keep the items listed in invoices ambiguous.

Q: When will my commission be completed?
A: I will aim to complete any commission as soon as I am able, ideally within two months of receiving payment. However, I still have a lot to learn about art, and about freelancing, and I'm in the process of making a big transition between professions. Complications may occur, and I might make mistakes!

I really appreciate your understanding while I make this massive change in my life. In return, I promise to work my hardest, be more accommodating to alteration requests, and communicate with you as best as I can.

Q: What is your refund policy?
A: Full refunds will be provided for commissions that are cancelled for my own personal reasons, of if a client cancels a commission before work has begun. Partial refunds will be provided for commissions that are cancelled by my client after I've started work on the commission.

Q: How do you do revisions?
A: For commissions (above $30 USD), I will send successive work-in-progress images and ask for feedback and approval before continuing. For smaller commissions ($30 USD or below) I'm happy to make any reasonable adjustments with no additional charge. However, there is a limit, and I depending on the cost of the commission I reserve the right to cease work on a commission once I feel like that limit has been reached. For larger changes, or changes exceeding this limit may be completed for an additional fee.

That sounds very dry, but I will always try to do my best work, and try to make sure that everyone is happy!

The points at which I will request feedback vary depending on the commission, but I will always provide a rough sketch before proceeding to a colour layout, and I will always provide a colour layout before proceeding to a fully rendered painting.

If feedback isn't received within 7 days, then unfortunately I will have to proceed without waiting for feedback or approval, and the client forfeits the rights to request changes for that stage.

Q: What am I allowed to do with commissioned artwork? What rights do you retain?
A: By default I retain full rights to any artwork that I produce, unless otherwise specified. That means that I can use, print, repost, or modify commissioned artwork, as well as sell prints.

The client may repost low resolution artwork wherever they see fit, so long as I am attributed as the artist. They may also modify the artwork for uses such as profile pictures or banners without my written permission. Clients also have the right to print out high-resolution commissioned artwork for personal use, but not for other uses such as promotion or reselling.

If requested, I am willing to hold off on printing or posting any commissioned artwork online for a period of up to 2 months. And period exceeding this is subject to negotiation, and may incur and additional fee.

If you would like to discuss other rights arrangements, please let me know. Certain other arrangements may be possible for an additional fee, or with royalties.

Q: Do you do free commissions or trades?
A: The short answer is no. I may decide to post personal work, or produce a piece as a gift for a friend, but any such work will be done on my own terms.
